Care.com, Inc. Reviews

Care.com is essentially an applling scam. Care.com uses a "Bait and Switch Model" for the contunity campaign they are running. Sheila Marcelo is the current CEO, she started the company in 2007. She is responsible for most of the unethical marketing stradagies that are in place. Sheila makes 90% of the money from first time users getting trapped in to auto renew billing. Its a modern marketing tactic she is cashing in on.

Millions of dollars have been lost by millions of parents and babysitters (and yes I did say millions) Care.com has 43 million accounts worldwide. Care.com siphoning money out of hard working Americans bank accounts..The auto renew billing buried in very small fine print and in light grey font is barely visible for a reason. When anyone should complain they are a broken record about it. "We are sorry you misunderstood the auto renew billing but you will not get your money back." That is just the start to a very long list of diry, dity business care.com is running.

Here is my top 10 list of fruad by Care.com.

1-Predatory, auto renew billing buried so deep Nancy Grace couldnt find it.

2-Termination of both Caregivers and parents accounts without a refund or explanation. This elimates bad reviews from caregivers pages and kicks all issues stait out the door.

3-Unsupported an unverifed background checks on caregivers.

Background checks are provided by an outside company that cleary stated they are not liable accuracy or completeness since no ID is seen by anyone. The caregivers punches in a DL# from her home computer and any borrowed or stolen DL# can be used..A SS# is also used but not required..The check will come back as a pass with no SS# on file if you are a criminal.

4-Unverified qualifications and unverified references from caregivers.

Qualifications are not verified at all in any way by Care.com. Not even CPR or first aid. No cards from an actual company are registered and any made up qulifications are just fine. References are aid to be verified but in fact they are not. The caregiver punches the references into the computer herself and can use any email and phone number..and then verify the references her self with her own computer and home phone.

5-The fake check scam....American caregivers are being scammed out of millions of dollars..This is well documented all over the net. Care.com is in 16 countries. Care.com is not monitoring the countries as a whole. Americans personal information is being sold from country to county and scams are running rampant along with prostitution and drug running. That is why there are so many complaints about fake ads and profiles...its a great way to communicate and lure others into the scam ring. Care.com is well aware this is going on but it is too costly for them to do anything...considering they make 100 million or more per year you would think this would be a concern.

6-Fake review boards---Care.com owns and operates the baords that hold 4 and 5 star reviews (top of the pile when googled) no 1 star reviews are allowed.

7-BBB will accreit any company that pays $500 a yr for a membership fee and Care.com pays to keep an A rating.

8-Rude and obnoxious customer service center. If anyone calls for any complaint they will terminate the person account 15 min later and send out this auto generated response "We reserve the right to remove anyone for no reason or any reason at anytime with no explanation and ro refund. (THIS IS NOT AN EXAGERATION)

9-Care.com allows minors to babysit knowing the amount of scams and illegal activity that goes on.

10-Care.com misrepresents its self on TV as a safe and verified community of caregivers by highlighting reviews and background checks. Many peolpe have written in that this is decieving and should not be when dealing with children.

Horrible unfriendly website you have to navigate to use their service. They ALWAYS have a reason to reject whatever your job that you post, that's how you find the nanny or housekeeper you are trying to find. They hide their phone numbers and emails so it is nearly impossible to get any help. Oh, and did I mention that there are many wierd and dishonest caretakers that you find there also! Apparently their 'screening' is useless. HATE DEALING WITH WWW.CARE.COM!!!!!

Care.com has deceptive billing practices. I signed up for 1 month of service in October 2013 so I could post a dog sitting job. I cancelled it in November 2013. They charged me 13 months of service at $37 per month. I didn't realize they were charging my credit card until they sent me an email saying my card wouldn't go through. I emailed them to ask why my card was being charged and that it shouldn't have been charged. They refunded 1 month of $37. I continued to tell them they weren't authorized to charge my card and I wanted all of my money refunded. I told them I had no idea they were still charging my card. I had also opened another account under a different email for the same job I posted before. I opened that account October 2014 and closed it November 2014. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. There are 253 other Better Business Bureau complaints about the same billing practices.Below is a link to it.http://www.bbb.org/boston/business-reviews/sitting-services/care-com-inc-in-waltham-ma-103708/

Stay away from care.com unless you want to be ripped off.

This is the second time that Care.com has terminated my membership with them for no reason at all. It leads me to believe that they are a selfish, money-hungry business, and not one that is truly there to help children. This website was my lifeline to finding jobs in the area that I am about to move to. I got an email this morning stating that my account had been terminated for no reason, and that they were not obligated to give me a reason, or a response to my emails. These people are absolute cowards. If you have an issue with someone for WHATEVER reason, you should be an adult and address it. Not hide behind some bogus terms that let you discriminate against your patrons. I chose to have the free membership instead of a paid one because Care.com does not offer enough for me to pay for their services. Whether this is the reason or not, I feel I need to given a reason, as well as anyone else they do this to unfairly.

I would also like to have my account reinstated since there is no apparent reason or violation of terms that I have committed. Then, let the members know (who Care.com sent messages to to tell them that my membership had been terminated) that my account was wrongfully terminated, and that they apologize for the inconvenience. Their choice to send those messages out have already hurt my chances of getting a job, and should have never occurred.

Care.com's auto-renewal policy is unethical. I paid for one month of service, which, according to the very tiny type at the bottom of the sign up page, was set to auto-renew. Unfortunately, Care.com does not send any reminders or receipts when collecting payment. They simply bill your credit card the full cost of renewal. Further, when I noticed the charge and called to cancel, there is no option for a pro-rated refund. I still have to pay for the full month, even though I'm no longer in need of the service and did not knowingly agree to pay Care.com the full subscription amount.
