It was clear by its name that it was for one month only - only now do I see that there was a tiny star, and under it in small light grey print it says that the subcription renews automatically. The other payment option was a monthly plan, making it perfectly clear that this one month membership would expire after one month. Next thing I know I look at my credit card statement and they've been charging me for 4 months! If you do some research they mention in a few places that this is a common error people make, i.e. they totally acknowledge how sneaky it is! I sent them a message that I demand a refund. I already know I won't be able to get it based on a few other people's similar experiences with care.com. That is sneaky, misleading business.
Unfortunately, my husband and I have no local family and have had to rely on Care.com to provide us with caregivers since our son was born in 2010. They represent local caregivers as qualified, reliable, and trust worthy. Little did we know, that all of the caregivers are completely self-qualified. There is no personal interviewing or qualifying processes provided by care.com. The members don't have to do anything except provide membership fees to care.com to be represented by the company. Yet these individuals are being invited into peoples homes and being trusted with their most prized possessions, their children.
In the 4 yrs that we have been customers of Care.com we have come into contact with 25-30 girls. From ages 18 to 40, they are all exactly the same. They lie about their qualifications and experience. They'll claim to be CPR certified but when asked to provide proof of this 9 out of 10 can't provide it. They'll claim to have years of experience but can't complete the simplest of child care tasks. I addition to this, every single caregiver that we employed through Care.com ended up to be unreliable, putting our jobs in jeapordy when they didn't show up or called off at the last minute.
It's unfortunate that we kept trying to find a decent caregiver, thinking that we just needed to keep looking & eventually we would find the right person. To our dismay, instead we just kept exposing our innocent child to bad people. We have come to the conclusion that Care.com is the largest collection of losers that can't find other jobs.
Recently we had the worst experience of all. We had money stolen from us & our son physically abused (marks found on his buttocks). At this point we decided: NO MORE CARE.COM. When we communicated our concerns with the company, instead of a sincere apology and a refund for 4 yrs of misrepresenting individuals who were unreliable, untrustworthy, unqualified, & possibly even pedophiles, they terminated our membership.
We felt the need to warn everyone of the DANGERS of using Care.com.

We would very strongly suggest that avoid them at all cost if you care about the safety and well being of your children. A family that we know hired a care giver through this company for their toddler. After hiring they found the person was a convicted pedophile. Does anything more need to be said? We have had four nannies from care.com. #1 was a 21 year old closet alcoholic. #2 stole from us. #3 addmitied to striking our 2.5 year old child while we were at work and we found she was an illegal alien. #4 completely misrepresented her availabilty and used her boyfriend as a reference claimng he was the husband in a family with four children for whom she had been a nanny.
He finally contacted us out of guilt to admit to the lie. We have spoken to many, many people who have had similar experiences as well as over billing issues. Be aware that anyone can post theiir profile on care.com - ANYONE. Any company can create their own positive reviews and post them through the help of others including employees. Any company can create a professional looking web site. In the terms and conditions below they admit to only collecting a cell phone number and email address nothing more. We were very thorough in our interviews and in contacting references.
They hold themselves responsible for nothing as is evident in the terms and conditions content below taken from their website. I had an account with Care.com and, for my own reasons, removed my account at the begninning of the year. In April I returned the to the site and created a new account. In June I went to the extent of paying for a 3 month membership and an extensive background check so that I would have an increased chance of finding employment with a family.
Shortly after I made these purchases Care.com removed my account. Now, this site runs on the principle that they do NOT owe one an explanation for removal of their account nor do they even have to have a reason to remove an account. However, when I questioned them they stated that they found that they didn't have to tell me why they deleted me but that they did so because THEY had previously removed my account.
Care.com never removed my original account, I did. As a result, I have been banned from their site due to a case of what appears to be extreme oversensitivity.
I could care less that the company gave me a refund. I care that I am banned from the site and my reputation potentially tarnished because while they do not have to tell me why I was deleted from the site, let alone that I was deleted at all, they do reserve the right to tell all families I had been in contact with that I have been removed. This will cause families to question how trustworthy of a person I am which, in turn, creates a ripple effect in which the end result is bad word of mouth is spread about me and I am unable to find a job.

This cannot be denied when it takes 20+ minutes of searching and reading to find their phone number as they REFUSE to list it on their "contact us" page and then if you are lucky enough to hear back from them the email is signed "The Care.com Team." Really? A human being didn't write that letter? What kind of company hides behind the internet and anonymity?
There is nothing trustworthy about this site. To prove this point - they routinely delete ALL negative comments from their Facebook page lest somebody actually see them and realize that this company is VERY shady.
