CaptainLocksmith.com and Amit Ram. The company sent a contract locksmith to unlock a bedroom door (very simple lock). We were severely overcharged for the services. 3/25/14 - my 19 year old daughter locked herself out of her bedroom while I was on a plane for business (so she had no way of calling me).
She called Captain Locksmith who sent a technician. The technician spent less than 15 minutes at our residence. Something that should have cost $50-100, she was charged $275 because she was scared & didn't know what to do...so she paid him. He did not tell her the cost until after he unlocked the door. He just made small talk with her. I called the company to file a complaint and was told by a manager that he had a right to charge that much. I can't believe anyone would think it is ok to take advantage of a young female.
According to locksmithledger.com, the average locksmith makes $45 per hour and an average house call is $68. How on earth can a person/company get away with charging $275 for less than 15 minutes (no hardware had to be replaced or anything)? I want to warn other people about this company and technician. Please help.
This company/contractor owes us a MINIMUM of a $175 refund.
