Andrew contacted my husband by email, the email had the capital one logo stating that my husband was approved for a loan so , but Andrew contacted us by phone. We went through the procedures , he stated that there was a fee I pay the fee then another fee ok so where's the loan but it's ok because he stated that we would receive the money back finally when it's time to disburse the funds he comes up with more fees we are already frustrated because we've depleted our bank account. So we tell him that we would like to cancel he gets very upset . So we say so we need our refund today because we have things coming out of our bank account which we made him aware of when we started this process, but he assured us that the money would be deposited right away. This was an awful experience . So I asked about the refund and of course you have to wait so many days. Unbelievable !
Received e-mails from Samuel Thomas and Mark Brown and phone call from Samuel Thomas regarding a loan approval.
Approved loan was for $4,500; 36 months; $159/month. Samuel Thomas told me I needed to go to Moneygram and loan $120 on a PayPower card to send to ATC which I did that same day. Was told I would receive credit in 3 months.
Next day was told the ATC required we use an insurance policy for security. I should go to Moneygram and load $270 on their PayPower card to be sent to the insurance which I did. Was told I would receive credit in 2 months.
Next day was told IRS was requiring we pay 10% of the loan amount, $450, before IRS would release loan for wire deposit. I did not have anymore money to send and told Samuel Thomas this. He said he would hold the loan until we could get it to him.
I contacted Samuel Thomas and told him I wanted to void the loan being processed because I had no more money. I requested the $390 I had sent him be wire deposited into my bank account. He said he would void the loan and would send me a cashiers check that I would receive in 3 - 5 days. Today is the fifth business day and the check was not in the mail.
My husband hit the roof and called Samuel Thomas and demanded the money be returned immediately. Samuel Thomas told him we had to pay a cancellation fee of $500 and he would return the $390.
I was not told of a cancellation fee. All I was told earlier was he would send the cashiers check in 3-5 days for $390.
My husband was very demanding and Samuel Thomas wound up hanging up on him. Every time he caled back, Samuel Thomas hung up on him.
We both are over 65 and on a fixed income and strict budget. We agreed to the loan so we could use it to repair damage to our bathroom when the water heater blew up. We were going to pay other bills to either pay off or get current. It was not to be used to just "blow".
Anything anyone can do for me would be appreciated so very much.
I was contacted by Andrew Williams and was told that I qualified for a $3000 loan. I sent money on a dark blue money gram form. Sometimes the account # was the same....but it was usually to "pay power" or "Rush card live". The account number was sometimes the same....and sometimes different.
I was assured each and every time that this money would be returned to me. I have paid over $1000 in so called "fees" because I was in desperate need of a loan. I am a single mom and Im trying to support my kids and am just a little short on funds.
The deposit of $4500 was to be made to my account today 2/13/15.... $3000 loan and the rest was fees that I paid. I am sad to say I got absolutely nothing. I have $35 to my name and bills due. I thought I was doing the right thing..and then I read this report that it was a scam and I started to cry. I was just trying to support my family...and working 2 jobs doesnt always make ends meet.I truly hope I can get my money back. I know this...I will never apply for anything online again. This was a very costly mistake that I fell for because I was in a desperate situation.
Capital One Bank is a scam. They took money out of my bank account for a paid in full credit account. I took them to court and won. They refuse to pay. So how do you get money out of a corporation like that? So don’t put there credit card in your wallet, because this could happen to you!
During the period of August 2011 I opened a prepaid credit card through Capital One Bank. The amount was for $200-00. A $200-00 security deposit was held by the bank and my limit was $200-00.
Simple enough you would think. I spent a small amount on the card and on receipt of the monthly statement proceeded to immediately make payment via my debit card on the account. To my surprise the payment failed to reflect against my card until after the due date. Fees incurred ?? This continued for a few months in this fashion.
I called and asked why it would take 12 days to post the payment to the account when it came off my debit card the very same day I paid it - 12 days earlier. They told me that it took time and could sometimes take up to 2 weeks etc etc - long stories.
This was repeated month to month - Finally I called in a few days after I purchased an item and made my payment via debit card to see what happens. The month was not up yet, 25 days to go to the due date. Again - processed late - with fees. Thats when the penny dropped and I realised it was all a scam.
I had opened the account to help increase my credit score - What Capital One was doing was destroying it. I once more called them and argued with their staff at processing - same lame excusses.
I then decided to close the account. So they tell me that I will have to wait untill they process the closure to send me my $200-00 security back. The month ends no deposit - next month no deposit. I calla gain to hear some more excuses.
Finally I told them I would spend the amount of the security deposit minus fees and consider the account closed since they refused to return my money.
That is exactly what I did. The next month they call me and said my payment was late. I told them I recorded the previous months conversation and told them I had requested the account closed by registered mail, verbally and deed and had proof thereof.
So they closed the account. I never received a statement or anything else from that day on.
But lo and behold - I find on my credit report they listed me as a late payer. 90 days with no outstanding balance. Just not right !!!!! and incorrect. I wrote all the credit bereau's and supplied them with proof of what transpired - All they would do is list my complaints as "consumer disagrees.
My advise to everyone dealing with banks is - I have a recorder and as I dial the number I activate it and tape the full conversation I have with them for my records. That way you have proof of all the bull that comes from these kind of people.
Invested in five year CD in 2008 with nice interest rates;
Before expiration, phoned bank and asked what interewst rates it would roll over to. NOTHING was the answer;
I asked instead of letting it expired, I wanted to take the cash and not reinvest or rollover. They assured me that was fine and they would do that.
After February, I checked and never received a check from them or anything else. Today I called and spoke with "customer service", who apologized, but said it was OUT OF HER CONTROL as there would be an early exit penalty of $150!!!! I told her that was grossly unfair as I had let them know ahead of time to NOT roll it over. She said she understood, and was sorry....however was unwilling to do anything to rectify the situation.
Wonder how many people they do this to? I want to report it to any and all sources. DO NOT BANK WITH CAPITAL ONE BANK!!
Capital One has been reporting false credit information to my credit. They have an account that was opened in 2008, which they they cliamed is mine. I have never opened a credit card from Capital One and never done any business with them.
Capital One refuses to remove the account from my name. They collected information when I called like birth date, social security number and current phone number in order for them to continue speaking with me, that was a red flag. When I called them they kept passing me to a different representative every 10 mins. I ended up talking to four reps in 45 minutes, where they unprofessionally claimed I opened the account. They refused to resolve the problem and instead aggressively made it seem I was culprit and even tried blaming my mom!
Capital One somehow reported that I made 3 payments skipping a month in between so that it looks more legitimate when reporting to the credit bureaus. I am disappointed that we have these predator banks in oir country. My credit s ruined and I feel powerless against these giants.
If there are more victoms like myself please post a complaint. We need to fight back against these predators.
