I hired Brian Benjamin Cardozo to handle the logistics of a big move from Honolulu, Hawaii to Silver Spring, Maryland, including vehicle transport and shipment of household goods. We were going to be moving over the holidays, therefore we wanted to have our car shipped to Florida so that we would have a vehicle while visiting family and then drive up to Maryland on Dec. 31.
We were told if we dropped off our vehicle on Novermber 24, it would be released to us in Florida on the 19th or 20th. We contacted Brian throughout the process to make sure our vehicle was en route. He assured us it was... then, after Christmas, and STILL no car, we decided to call the port in Long Beach, California to see if the car was even picked up. To our utter shock, the car was still sitting in the port, and it had been available for pick-up since December 10!!! Brian failed to have the car picked up by a driver, resulting in us not having a car for our entire vacation in Florida AND delaying us a full WEEK in our departure for Maryland where I was starting a new job in the New Year. It also cost a DOUBLE the amount he quoted us to expedite the car across the country with another company.
That's not all...
After the car fiasco, we decided we better check up on our household goods. Brian hired YRC, a commercial shipper, to ship our household items. He gave us a tracking number on the bill of lading which didn't show up in their systems. We tried their online database, we called them personally, and no one had a clue where our shipment was. Finally, we found out that our stuff was STILL sitting in Honolulu at the port because payment hadn't been made to move it.
Fast forward to a couple weeks later and we finally get a call from YRC that our stuff is in Maryland and ready to be delivered... one catch though - they were "having trouble getting payment from the thrid party." At this point, our stomachs just twisted in knots. We tried calling Brian over and over. No answer. No response. We made the horrific realization that this guy wasn't just an incompetent, disorganized person who simply forgot to have our car picked up (it was the holidays afterall, and we were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt) but he was trying to steal over $1200 of our hard earned money and disappear. YRC also informed us that Brian Benjamin Cardozo had over-extended his credit line with them and that they had issues with him before.
Beware of the multiple company names and aliaes and websites he uses. The names I know of include: Reliable Auto Transport, Frei8ht.com (Freight Transport & Shipping), Hawaii Shippers, BluStryp Corp, etc). You'll have a hard time pulling up reviews for any of these companies and there's a reason. It's a SCAM.
