WORST EVER direct mail catalog gardening plant and seed company
I am writing here to share my NEGATIVE experience dealing with one of the worst direct mail gardening company, Burgess Seed & Plant Co. The company has so many alias and dba names what that should rise red flags before I even opened my check book.
Because of the company like this we will never use another catalog gardening company ever again. There are plenty of local nurseries around. It is not even a case were you receive dead or bad or sick plants, here we were nursing wrong plants, wasting our time and resourced for three years.
Here is our story.
We ordered GRAPE SEEDLESS SELECTION (3207 2PCS CANADICE, 6300 NIAGARA GRAPE 2PCS, 6304 CATAWBA 2PCS, 6305 CONCORD 2PCS, 6599 NEW HIMROD 2PCS, 6074 MARQUIS SEEDLESS GRAPE 2PCS) on June 30th 2012, Order # Aristova 60047, PKG ID#131905678. Couple of plants being dead on arrival.
As you can see , we ordered SIX different grape varieties with TWO plants EACH.
Five of grape plants had berries last summer for the first time. ALL OF THEM TURNED OUT TO BE THE SAME VARIETY ( SEEDED, small dark blue barriers with thick skin, looks like some sort of wine variety).
We ordered two plants of each variety, so how come we had FIVE plants bearing the same barriers and all are seeded? That’s supposed to be SEEDLESS Collection.
Looks like you just sent us all plants from same least popular variety. We wasted THREE years of growing wrong grapes.
We contacted the company and they replied what we are out of our 14 days return period and they cannot issue a refund. THAT’S ALL!!!!
This business has many alias and dba names, here are just a few:
I placed two orders exceeding a few hundred dollars.
They sent me dead twigs. For instance any fruit tree was only a couple inches tall and they claimed it was a 2 year stock.
If these trees were alive they would grow inches in a month. Upon requesting a refund or replacement they indicate that they will not ever refund anything but that they would try to replace, just to send the shipping label. So I sent in the shipping label and a month goes by I then start to call and send emails after many wasted emails, calls and letters they then keep stating to send the shipping label, however that was sent previously so then they tell you they will not send any replacement.
They are complete scammers and their customer service is astounding ignorant.Don't buy anything from these scammers because all you will get is tiny dead twigs and frustration.
An large order was placed with Burgess. The plants were treated precisely as outlined in their instructions. Only four of the many plants did not live.
I subsequently prepared the 4 plants for return, and included every document that was included with the order, and the shipping label, as instructed. The dead plants were circled on the packing slip and a request was made for replacement.
Beware, don't buy anything from Burgess Seeds. They won't tell you this but there is NO refunds. They will keep replacing their dead plants as slowly as possible but absolutely no refunds. They send brown, crispy dead plants and you have to water them for 6 weeks before asking for a replacement. They only ship in summer months, they say they will ship when it's optimal for your zone. I live in zone 9 1/2, my planting season in central Florida is Jan/Feb but they won't ship until June when it's 95 degrees. I will never buy anything from these rip-offs which I hear is some conglomerate in cahoots with a bunch or growers in the northern mid-west. I don't believe they even have greenhouses, they just buy crap from others.
6519 Walnut, Carpathian English, 1-3' 2 trees $14.99
6190 Nut, American Butternut 2 trees $10.99
4647 Nut, Hickory Mammoth 2 trees $12.99
6273 Nut, Hazelnut 2 trees $4.96
6216 Chestnut Tree, (Reg. 2 for $9.90) 2 trees $4.95
6139 Mulberry, Russian, (Reg. 2 for $10.90) 4 trees $10.90
All trees are dead. All the trees are DEAD. They sent me a bunch of dead, dry sticks. I gave them the order number by email and the list of what arrived dead.
They told me I need to provide proof of payment and to return the dead trees, with the original shipping label. If you throw out the shipping label, they are off the hook from providing a refund. They have customer number/order number. They know I paid and they know what I ordered. No excuse.
Customer service doesn't identify themselves with a name or employee number. One customer service rep said I would get a refund. Another rep emailed that a refund wasn't possible.
I dare you to order from Eburgess.com.
