I went to check out this dating service after using match.com and eHarmony. The premise for Buffalo Niagara Introductions is that they screen their clients thus ensuring better results. Screening includes a detailed form indicating likes and dislikes as far as hobbies, physical appearance, interests, politics, etc.
You are then interviewed at length by in my case, Patty's daughter. I can't recall her name but she is a college student at Buff State! She took a picture and then handed me a laminated sheet with the price. I almost died! Just about $900 for nine months. Very pushy. Insisted that this was the best way to go and they were very successful. I asked what their percentage of matches were and she said 85%. She said I would received between 2-4 matches a month. Rules were: 1. No discussion of BNI. 2. No marital/dating history on first date. 3. No religion/politices. After one date you call BNI back and they let you know if the other individual is interested in a second date. You report the same. If you both care to go out again, BNI notifies you. Also, the man pays for all dates and you don't go for just coffee or drinks. It is dinner.
I signed up. Big, big mistake. The first month I was given 4 names. The first date was HORRIBLE! This man was not at all the body type I was interested in. He was very overweight, we had nothing in common, he complained about his ex-wife the whole time and asked me about my religious beliefs.
The second was worse. The guy seemed mentally challenged. I have a daughter with special needs and I am sensitive to this. Beyond shocked. He also spoke about religion and politics in detail.
At this point I decided to just do drinks. Being stuck with these two was terrible. I was so upset. Then to try to get someone to give feedback to was surreal. The answering machine would cut off. You were unable to leave any messages. Many "dates" told me the same thing. This literally continued for about six months.
As far as the 2-4 dates a month goes, that was a joke too. You'd be lucky to get one after the intial rush. The people I was set up with had nothing in common with me, were socially inept for the most part, and unattractive. I met two attractive men the entire time.
I am told that I am a cute girl, have a good education, lots of friends and can converse with practically everyone. This service I seriously believes just sets you up with whoever they have at that time. I could not wait until my nine months expired. I am being completely honest.
On one date, the server actually told me after my "date" left that she and the other servers felt bad for me! They know exactly when people are meeting on blind dates whether it be match.com, eHarmony, etc. This guy had a bowl haircut, wouldn't talk, never had a girlfriend before, and lived with this parents in their basement. He wasn't just shy but seemed like he was still using his Commodore 64 in the rec room all day.
After that date, I called BNI and lost it. I'm no supermodel but REALLY?? My friends felt so terrible about this whole thing because they encouraged me after listening to all of the promotions about this company. I mean Patty was on Oprah, wrote books, etc. Has to be good, right?
Do yourself a favor. Don't even think of signing up. Almost one thousand dollars for a few drinks and dates. One second date.
This is a HUGE waste of money. You have a kid in college flipping through a book and making phone calls to meet someone. I have never reviewed anything but I felt this strongly about this.
