The service was much worse than the phone itself. i could not make a call without a friend asking me to repeat myslf. The call dropped and i was in the middle of the street at the time! i called Budgetmobile. i was told to go to a budgetmobile store to switch to T-mobile after i explained that Verizon is terrible in my area and Spritn in much worse. the nearest budgetmobile store ? 45 miles each way. Budgetmobile wants me to drive 90 miles to fix a problem they created. The coverage map lies and shows excellent service for both VERIZON And SPRINT where i live BUT its not! as much as verizon drops calls SPRINT just has roaming signal and then may not even connect after the call is made.
I sent the VERIZON phone back and then received a replacement.....VERIZON phone :( i called customer service and budgetmobile phone reps. said they will make a note in my account to be sure i get a t-mobile phone. i explained i already did the trouble shooting and was told a note was in the account and a t-mobile phone would already be sent the first time. I sent the phone back and then a week later i called and was told my account was cancelled .I did not qualify..... ???? i was told to re-open service request.
I opened a second request for phone service and then spoke with a instant messaging representative to make sure a t-mobile phone would be sent. i was told by the budgetmobile agent a note is in the account and i will be sent a t-mobile phone. a 10 days later i receieved ..... a VERIZON wireless phone. i refused the package and sent it back by u.s. mail. i contacted the budgetmobile reps. over the phone and explained what occured. i was then reassured i would be sent a t-mobile phone as a replacement. i waited again about 10 more day and was sent another ..... VERizon wireless phone. i refused that package as well. I then contacted the BBB and filed a complaint. i also contacted the FCC and filed a complaint.

"After farther review of the account, Mr. xxxxx does not qualify for a lifeline discount under his income; Mr. xxxxx excesses the annual income amount. As of 3/10/2015, the account will be suspended. customer: I am currently UNEMPLOYED. limits for life line service is $25,500. My 6months unemployment MAXIMUM benefit is $10,800 I am $14,700 under the current 2015 income maximum. What actual review of my account was actually made? What information did lakisha taylor review? I am unemployed... I have no further income... How was i found without merit? I was also told by budget mobile that a supervisor would email me this week and it's been 5 says without a response. The information seems vague and an excuse to cancel service they have yet to provide.
so it seems that if you sign with budgetmobile and havea problem ? there will be terrible customer service. if you continue to try and get customer service ? you account is cancelled or suspended somehow.
*NOTE* you can refuse the package by putting "refused" on the box and not opening it. budgetmobile will have to pay to have the package shipped back to them an not you.

On Jan 22nd I tried to add more talk minutes to my phone as I always do....I was charged twice for minutes I never received. I tried getting in touch wt sevetal people concerning this matter ,gave them all the information they needed and in the nd, they could not help me, this is outragoeus, I spent a whole day dealing with this one women,and in the end no results...I coudnt call anyone due to the lack of minutes on my phone...This is not right something needs to be don.

The company is completely unresponsive, my lifeline cell phone stopped working after about 30 days. You call, wait on hold for a long time before you are told to leave a message for a call back as they are busy, doesn't happen. When you try to reach a chat online agent, you either get a form for them to contact you back (cause again their busy) or just sent to their discussion forum. When you email them, sometimes you get an error message, when they DO respond, and you respond with the info they need, you don't get a reply. The only time they answer quickly is when you sign up for their lifeline program. Anyone else who has had bad service with this company please file a complaint both online and for good measure on the phone with this company with your public utility agency so they can forward it to the FCC so they can pull their lifeline status.

After seeing a TV commericial I called to get "Free" California Lifeline cellphone and free service from Budget Mobile. Somehow I ended up paying $50.00 - no other choices about what type of phone and service were given when I appied, but it seemed worth it anyway to have free minutes and texts. I finally received my "data phone" and it is piece of crap flip phone. I charged it for 5+ hours but loses power when unplugged. I call Budget Mobile many times and put on hold and have the same account information repeated like I'm talking to brainless robots: "Your order wasn't free because you chose a data phone," (NO I did not really - no other choice), and "We are having problems transferring calls to technical support," "We have lots of calls waiting," etc.
I send many emails and told several times,
"Thank you so much for emailing us and we're very sorry for the confusion.
We have checked your account and saw that there was a DATA phone that was shipped out under your name last August 11th and it usually takes around 7-14 business days excluding weekends and holidays before it reaches you address. You will get your data phone between later this week and on the 28th.
Again we do apologize for the confusion. Thank you for choosing Budget Mobile!"

If I do this then they have made $75 off me, a person who can't afford to pay for a phone and service! I did not use the phone more than the call a month nessacery to keep the line active for the first few months. Now, two days ago the charger stopped working. My father in law said the motherboard popped which could have caused a fire. Their solution? They will simply send another "refurbished" charger. Here is an excerpt of the report.
