Old House, Old Furnace, I am aware of that. The furnace was not blowing properly. I called Brown's heating and spoke to a receptionist who transfered me to the 'owner'.
I explained my problem as well as the fact we are NOT buying a new furnace, so don't bother suggesting that. The 'Owner' told me not a problem he would send out a tech shortly.
The tech arrived and called me and I explained again that I am NOT buying any new furnace, fix what is there. About an hour later the 'owner' called me and said the tech was working with it and the furnace was unsafe to operate, and could not be fixed and I had to buy a new furnace.
When I told him again I am not buying a new furnace he said it was unsafe to turn on, and my renter would have to sign a form that the furnace was to be left off because it was unsafe to operate. Then the 'owner' told me if I allowed this furnace to be used I would kill people with it and it would be completely MY fault! Then he said 'Are you ok with killing people?!'
Turns out the fan needed to be rewired because it was blowing the wrong direction. When I had a reputable company come out it was $127.50 and fixed and running properly. It has been checked and is not unsafe in any way.
I feel bullied, scared and afraid this company has done this to many others because he was 'good' at scaring me. I think it is fraud to tell someone a furnace is not repairable and then threaten me to make me buy something very expensive that YOU are the wholesaler for. I dont even think it is legal to 'scare' someone into a purcahse, seems like extreme high pressure sales to me.
And to top it off, I got charged $75 fee for this treatment as well as the tech pissing off my renter.
