In this case, I feel extremely ripped off and obligated to WARN people about this scam. The product is no better than a flat iron you can get at Walmart for $20, as far as quailty goes....
It is a completely cheap, horribley made flat iron that rips your hair off when you try sliding it through. The "100%" ceramic iron FRIES your hair so badly it looks like you have chemically fried frizzy hair.
They DO NOT use the same iron in the demos at the mall. Go on multiple websites online and you will find VERY similar reviews from many people. I personally wish I reviewed it before I bought it.... so here I am hoping to help someone elses hair.... because honesly I am more upset about my damamged hair then the money lost!!!!
I was lured into the store by a super sweet saleswoman (Sapir) who asked if I straightened my hair, I responded yes and she grabbed my hand and pulled me in the store. She was complementing how beautiful my daughter and I were, and pointed out that my hair was breaking off and wanted to demonstrate their "new no heat technology flat iron", I let her demonstrate on my hair, she then proceeded to spray my ($200 Brazilian) hair and straightened it soaking wet, claiming that the flat iron can also be used on wet hair and does not use heat, but steam. She also told me it was so safe that I could use it on my 3 year old daughters hair?! A customer (Suzy) left a review under the same flat iron I purchased on brilliancenewyork.com, she left 1 star and asked if this was the steam flat iron that you can use on wet hair, brilliance New York responded that they do not carry wet to dry products.
The original sales pitch was that the straighteners originally cost $300, but I can buy 1 for $180 or 2 for $300.
I asked her to give me a minute so that I could research the product online, and she would not leave me alone! She kept trying to show me demonstrations and said that they have the same straighteners for $90 on Amazon and eBay but they are not the authentic product, which was also A lie, according to reviews those straighteners work great. (Plus all the People that buy 2, expecting to sell the other to make money back) Anyways, if you look on brilliancenewyork.com, that is the only place you will find these flat irons at the outrageous price of $300, and coincidentally ALL the straighteners they are selling in the store are "coming soon" on their website.
I thought $180 for a NO HEAt flat iron, with a lifetime warranty was a steal! i told Sapir I will take it, she then asked if I curl my hair and i told her no, she then came back and told me I can but 2 straighteners for the low price of $240! I gladly handed her my card, I later noticed that she had charged my card $250 + tax, and extra $10 than what i agreed upon!
I returned to the store in less than 24 hours after purchase and the manager was extremely rude and said "I'm sure she did tell you $240, but honestly there's nothing we can do about it here in the store, she also continued to argue that the straightener is a wet to dry steam straightener after I showed her the comment brilliance New York made that they don't make wet To dry models she said "I'm not sure what to say" gave me a paper to fill out and email to customer support, & sent me on my way. I am waiting to hear back from them but according to yelp reviews, they have STOLEN thousands of dollars from other customers and even made a $500 cash withdrawal on one lady's credit card. Please save yourself the hassle and RUN past when you see a brilliance New York.
