Two months ago I purchased a used Toyota Corolla from Bramlett Kia. It was advertised as a used car, never been in a accident. We looked it over and it looked fine everything seemed to be working. I should have know something was wrong when we got there and looked at the rear end it had damage on it (never been in a accident) so I questioned them on it and they said "they backed into something, that is not considered an accident".
From here we only go down. The sales personal was a nice guy and I dont blame him for anything. They tell you they check out the used cars before they sell them, however, it's obviously a lie. The manager Michael offered us an extended warranty for roughly 500.00 a month (the purchase price was 8500.00 for a 2009 model LE) obviously the insurance was a ridiculous price to pay monthly, it's more than the value of the car in a few short months. I declined but they continued to push it (this should have been a warning and not a suggestion) we declined and I had my daughters car for college ready to go. We left and no sooner did we get home we tried the horn and it didn't work. Checked the fuses and it was aok so I took it back into them and they told us someone had disconnected the horn and they had to "reconnect it". Next week the radio started going on and off like it has a loose wire then finally goes out. Thing about this a minute, if they had actually checked the car out is it not logical to think they would have pressed the horn and tried the radio out?
Then two weeks later the rear view mirror falls of the windsheild so I get the kit and glue it back on and it promptly falls off again. I call the service dept and talk to "dennis" the sales manager and he proceeds to tell me that they can't really call a "used car" a lemon. I'm not calling the car a lemon I'm calling Dennis and Bramlett a lemon. They refused to fix anything else and pretty much gave us the finger politely.
It's not a shocking incident of bad attitude or even theift however - but they lied - they lied that they checked the car out because we took the car to a authorized toyota dealship and they told us they didn't check anything or they would have noticed not only the horn but several other things as well.
We decided, because of possible bias, to get a second opinion and an independent auto repair shop basically told us the same thing and added they at least should have changed the oil (which they told us they did).
So were warning others of their lack of conscience and their inability to tell the truth. No big surprise for cars salemen but when you spend your hard earned savings on a car to get your daughter through school or work or taking your children to school, just remember their propensity for lying and laughable service contracts.
They sold us that car knowing full well there were issued they never mentioned and actually lied to us about, they never checked that car out and sold is "as is" - honestly had they told us what we needed to fix we never would have purchased the car... there were better deals but they were a 2 hr drive away. Our advice is drive 5 hrs if you have to just don't purchase a car from them.
