My AC in my 05 Ram was blowing hot air. On 2-25-2015, I saw a coupon on the internet for a AC inspection for $9.99 for BrakeMasters.
I live 70 miles from Tucson. We do not have any repair shops where I live.
I arrived at BrakeMasters repair shop on 260 W Ina Rd, Tucson Az nd was told that they would inspect my truck. They inspected it for about 1/2 hour and I was told that my vehicle had 2 bad Shrader Valves. I approved a work order for $186.70. They brought my vehicle out and said it was now fixed and was blowing cold air.
I returned home. The next day I tried the AC and it was blowing hot air again. I called BrakeMasters shop and reported this. I was informed that I should bring it back for another inspection.
Because I live so far away, I could not return until 3-04-2015.
When they inspected my vehicle, I was told that now the high side hose was leaking, and was presented with a bill for $248.03.
I had a heated discussion about this with the manager whose first name was Brian. I asked why they did not catch the bad hose on the 1st inspection, and he stated that the dye they used would not show a leak for 2 to 5 days. I asked him how did they know the Shrader valves were leaking then on 1st inspection. He did not have an answer for this.
I finally signed another work order for $248.03 and the vehicle was finally repaired right on the second attempt.
I believe this company does not know what they are doig, and overcharges all their customers when they can. While I was waiting for my vehicle to be repaired, I witnessed several customers complain about similiar treatment.
I beleive that the high side hose was probably leaking when I first brought the vehicle to them for repair and it should have been properly repaired then. I should not have been charged for the Shrader valves or the freon, or the labor to fix the first time around.
Went to this Brake Masters in Sierra Vista, AZ on 8 November 2014 for a coolant flush, transmission flush, and oil change. Paid $210 and some change with a coupon. Decided to crawl under my truck when I got home and check all the fluids. Found dirty oil, the old filter still on, old radiator fluid. The trans looked clean but who knows what they did at this point. Called the manager Jeff and he said bring it back lady and I will put it on the rack and show you. I told him I don't need it on a rack the fluid is dirty and the old filter is still on the truck, I crawled under it, and if you want we can discuss it in front of customers. He called back 5 minutes later and said, oh I am sorry we didn't do the services. Really, all single ladies and the elderly beware of this place and or make sure you watch them and check up after them. If I hadn't crawled under my vehicle and checked the fluids they would have scammed me big time. They decided to kindly refund me 86 dollars but were changrinned the entire time they cheated me. Even with the 86 collars refunded they over charged for on an special additive they told me I must have in the transmission. When I asked to see the additive it was a small bottle of valvoline additive that could have been pruchased for 5.00 at any local automotive store. Shame on you Brake Masters.
Be careful going here! I knew an employee there, and I was advised by another friend to go there, though it was quite a drive for me, I decided to go there.... Very nice people! They'll charge you $60.00 for tranny oil, and another $48.00 to put it in. Which I thought was okay, and fair... UNTIL I needed a master cylinder and they charged me $350.00 for it and that included installation!! (R&R) I didn't want to embarrass my friend, so I accepted. The grand total was over $450.00!! Though the MC was new, it wasn't OEM. They charged me, $199.00 for that NON OEM part. I could buy a new non OEM MC for $30.00 including tax, and a new OEM for $200.00. I know we all need to eat, and I'm all for capitalism... BUT, this was a definite over charge. I must say, they took care of me right away and were VERY courteous! But I really feel I was overcharged by at least a hundred bucks. What's really striking, is that these guys know I'm pretty car savvy. I could have done it myself if I were in better health. Shop rates in Phoenix vary, but usually around $89.00 an hour is the average. They charged me dealer rates of $123.00 an hour. I'm all for profit, but if you know someone and he's a friend, I'm not going to rape him!! Thank you, my friend. SERIOUSLY??
