This is a warning more than a review. If you owe money to these people do not contact them unless you can pay the thing in full. Just don't do it. Do not work out a plan with them. Do not give them any information. If you do call them call from a pay phone and just don't give any information.
I had a couple of items that went to collections several years before I ever contacted them. One of those things was something I owed to an old apartment complex that I had lived in (stuff that was part my fault part the fault of an evil and sketchy apartment manager). Years later I was trying to find a new apartment so I wanted to make payments on my debt to show the new potential land lords that I was fixing my old issues.
I stupidly called Bonneville which had left me alone for all of those years. I contacted Bonneville and tried to set up a payment plan. The man on the phone refused, absolutely refused to send me any paperwork or anything that had the amount on it or that proved they were real. Nothing. So I hung up and decided I would wait until I could get out to their location.
I was not willing to take the 3 hour bus trip out there so I could not get out there for a couple of months. During this time they kept calling me from different numbers (some with an area code from where they are located and some from my area code. Very tricky.) I usually ignore phone calls from numbers I don't know so when I answered a call from them from my area code, a call that came through during my break at work, I told the chick that I would take care of it when I could and hung up.
When I was able to get out to the location the woman, who was the one who called me, acted like some poor innocent person who was trying to help but I was mean to her. She said that if ever anything happened and I couldn't make a payment to contact them and they would work something out. We all know that is a lie.
I was told by multiple people that after making 3 months of payments they would call me and work out something with the interest. That never happened.
Then I missed a payment. Why? Because 1. I moved and I was poor because moving is expensive and 2. because my work cut my hours that week and I lost the amount of money that would have gone towards paying that bill plus some.
One missed payment and they sent a court order to my old address and my brother relayed it to me.
After over 3 years of holding onto this debt and not bugging me, one missed payment and they went insane.
So, just don't contact them because if anything happens they will come after you.
