I worked for diane bowen of boheme maison for a period of 6 months as a delivery driver. It absolutely amazes that she is able to conduct business the way she does. She has a habit of alternating between using her maiden name “eustachy” and her married name “bowen” for similar reasons. I don’t know how many people she actually took deposits from and never got anything in return as i did not handle any of the daily operations of boheme maison but i wouldn’t be surprised if there were quite a few. She has been sued numerous times as a result of her unwillingness to do the right thing and refund peoples deposits when she can’t deliver on her promises. The number one complaint voiced to me by customers when i did deliver furniture was “i ordered such and such piece six months ago and i didn’t think i was ever going to get said furniture” next was “diane is next to impossible to get a hold of”. She is extremely charming and charismatic when it comes to getting a deposit and has no qualms about ignoring that customer’s call when they call to see what the status of their order is. I was instructed by diane to call numerous customers telling them that the delivery truck was making “mysterious noises” or “overheating” when in reality i was sitting at the shop waiting for the carpenters to finish their work. In the six months that i worked there i didn’t have any mechanical problems with the trucks rented from budget so be wary of any similar excuses she may give you. On most days, the carpenters are rushing to complete an order so lots of mistakes get made like tables not being level, shelves not fitting, deviations from the customer’s specified dimensions, wrong paint/stain etc. If for some reason you decide to still do business with boheme maison be sure to scrutinize every last detail while the delivery driver is still there. Another tactic diane uses to get more money from customers is a “delivery fee” that she conveniently forgets to mention to the customer while the delivery is being scheduled. The customer usually pays the $100-$200 knowing full well the delivery driver can simply put the furniture back on the truck and take it back to the shop. Long story short diane bowen and boheme maison are to be avoided at all costs.
