They are one of the most pathetic service organization I have experienced.
I fired them because:
1. I've never had to call support at any organization as many times as I have called Blue Host.
2. The average hold time on every call was 8-10 minutes
3. I had a personal representative that was supposed to make sure I was happy. When I wasn't happy he wouldn't cal me back
4. I've had numerous (more than 20 emails) bounce, because one of their email servers was blacklisted.
5. I've had clients that attempted to send emails to my company that bounced because of server problems
6. I switched to a VPS server with them to eliminate the email problems. I had 3 outages my first week on the VPS service
7. I asked for compensation for the lack of email capability and web site being down, during a couple web conferences I was doing. The manager told me all he could for me was one month of service. He told me he would have to check with management for more compensation. I never heard from him..
8. Their lack of service has cost me a lot of time and money
9. They also screwed up the migration of my site to their service.
Blue Host has an Upsell feature that is so shady I would not endorse anyone to get involved with the company! and I tell you why. I tranfered my entire wordpress site to Blue Host due to there "SO CALLED 3.95 per month unlimited site deal" Now it's not like Host gator that has a monthly option you have to pay either annual or more so they will bundle the first payment and try to get you to buy other offers along the way.
But here is the trick! I backed up my files and I am ready for the move, it's like moving from house to house! but just on the Internet! So I downloaded my data from my wordpress site and then changed my nameservers over to Blue Host and then I give them(BlueHost) a call... Know it was a blessing that the first Tech I spoke to was super helpful with me and had the patience to get my site transfered over.. he was like a child that was raised the right way, like raised by a good parents to be a Honest kid! and smart, he guided me step by step over the phone to upload my information and he did it so well my site was just like it was on the previous hosting company! He even helped me load all of my other sites (I had 3) so when we finished I was back in business!! now you may be saying "How did Blue Host Scam you?"
Okay let me explain... the next day I was working on some code to add some additional information to my sites, so I went to one of them and notice the site was pointing to "BlueHost" I thought that was Odd becuase a few hours ago the site was up and running! just a few hours ago? I went to another site and notice data from on site was mixed in with the other? Odd? So I went to Log in to Wordpress backend to see if I could notice anything different and the screen was blank? Now I am not techie and I don't really know to much concerning PHP and Mysql but after this ordeal I am learning more about servers and mysgl and databases for futute Mishaps but to make a long story short.. I called BlueHost customer support to see if I can get some help! Now when I connected to customer support.. the help was entirely different.. the rep didnt understand what was going on with my site and actually went and made it worst! So I didnt panic I said to myself I will call again and maybe the next Tech support rep may be a little more knowledgeable and help! but when I contacted the next rep..
I had the same result as the first but this guy was strongly advising me to pay $99 for upgraded tech support! now here is my problem! I don't mind paying for services becuase you should be paying for assistance that get results but my problem sites was already up!! why should I pay $99 when the site was already running.... they was working!! almost seamless! so I found out what really happened! the First Tech Support realized how easy it was to migrate a wordpress install over to a new host and since I was almost there with all my data ready to go He Helped me set it up! BUT YOU SUPPOSED TO PAY $99 for the service!!! So maybe a manager or someone saw that these sites were up and running looked at the log of our time and what the first tech support helped me with and noticed no $99 Fee made and pointed the sites to different areas knowing I would call back and then try to UPSELL ME the $99 service!! I know how these things work because I have been in sales FOREVER! but I think that is cheesy on there part!! but this is why I would not use BlueHost!! if you have a website that you use full time! for you business and that site brings in money to feed yourself or your family! and BLUEHOST wants to play games and knock your site down and you don't have the expertise to navigate in Cpanel and to do tech stuff like that I would NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR SITE!! everyday my site was down I lost money! and they didnt care they just wanted for some measley $99 ..... so I took my site down and trasfered it to another Hosting company for less that $99!! and requested a REFUND as fast as I can!!!!
