Purchased a timeshare in Feb, 2014 in Orlando, FL. Was told we were buying 7000 points per year. Told we could use any Choice hotel for &39, $49, $59, or $69 per night, Told we needed to atend an orientation session to be instructed how to use what we purchased and all our questions would be answered. Scheduled the orientation in Branson, MO.in April. What a lie about the help to use what we thought we bought. This was a full blown sales pitch to buy even more timeshare at about twice to price per piont. Also were then told we could only use our 7000 points every other year - first we ever heard of that. another lie from bluegreen. The guy in Branson had no intention to even try to answer any question, but rushed us out the door when we would not buy more points. I wrote a letter demanding a full refund explaining all the desception from FL and MO to the corporate office in Boca Raton in May. Several weeks later a parttime girl in Indianapolis called and basically said I was out of luck and I could not talk to anyone else about it. Just tried to use the Choice hotel option and after waiting for over 45 minutes on the phone 3 different times, I'm told there is no such option available. I could give you several more lies they told us at both locations, but you get the point.
I am a happy time share owner with another company. But this Bluegreen operation is a complete fraud. Readers be aware and stay away from this outfit.
My husband and I took some of our children, grandchildren, nieces and friends to The Fountains in Orlando last December. While the accommodations were good and we enjoyed our stay for the most part, the part we did not enjoy was the 5 hour long sales pitch. We have owned timeshares for quite a while and have been taken advantage of on several occasions by less than honest sales people; however, this time, as we figured everything out eventually, really is unbelievable!
We were already making two payments to Bluegreen and I told them we really could not afford any more payments. The salesman told me that those two payments could be "absorbed" into the new payments and those payments would be over a longer period of time but they would actually be less than what we were currently paying.
Because my husband has many health issues (which we explained) we wanted to reduce our monthly outlay and this promise sounded good even if iit would be for a longer time. Well, needless to say, they blatantly lied about the money we would be required to pay each month and now instead of two payments, we have the two we started out with (they did not "absorb" them) and 4 (four) more in the form of credit cards, plus a payment to Quorum Federal Credit Union.
My husband's health has continued to decline and we are slammed with all sorts of medical bills. He has always handled our reservations and the payments and he is unable to do that anymore so, in addition to the difficulties related to the medical situation, I am now facing this enormous timeshare bill that I will be paying on for years. More than likely, we will not be able use our timeshares........talk about a money pit!!!!!!
While the 2 resorts we have stayed at are very nice there are "extra" charges and all in all club itself isn't all it's cracked up to be if you buy a smaller package. I was VERY skeptical but after a very high pitched sales speal we purchased a "sampler packet" - on our 1st trip in the packet we used 50% of our points and did stay at a very nice resort right on the beach. BUT upon check-in we were told that we had to attend another sales meeting or would have to pay retail price for our rental unit; so we went. I tried to get an appointment for that day but we had to wait until we had been there at least 24 hours. We went on our 2nd day and I must admit being relaxed on vacation my typical "spidy senses" were down and we fell for what they were "selling".We bought a low end "points" package with all these ways to use them with other resorts, get discounts on cruises & other items. What we weren't told and didn't know to ask was the fact that we bought a small package we cannot book anything that we want to do as the higher packages get to book long before we can. So basically am paying for nothing.
We didn't even finish using all our sampler points and have used NONE of our package points. I have asked them to VOID the contract and keep the 4 months of payments they already collected but they will not do it.
Very disappointed in them and us for falling for their bs.
I was shopping at the Tanger Outlets in North Charleston when a sign caught my eye that said free cruise. Summertime was coming up and we had not yet planned our vacation so I wanted information. I started talking to the lady then I was suckered in. She said I could get 7 nights and 8 days at any participating hotels and I can split up the nights if I wanted. She told me we could stay at a hotel or a one of their resorts. I asked what kind of hotel would they give us and can we get it in Myrtle Beach. She said it would be a min of a 3 star hotel and yes! we can stay at the beach! If we stayed at one of the resorts it would lower the amount of days we had. Also, they will give me a $50 giftcard right then if I went ahead and signed up and a free crusie!!!! I asked "What's the catch?" She said there is no catch. The only thing we have to do is go visit one of their resorts for two hours during our vacation. Without giving me all the details they went ahead and charged my card for $500.
After they charged my card they then told me that the hotel was not on the beach but a couple miles near it. To make a long story short I was there for an hour and a half going back and forth with what they were going to do about us not being on the beach. The lady at the stand was calling customer service and somehow kept getting transfered and would have to explain the whole situation again. They finally found a hotel that would allow us to be ocean front so I went a head and booked it. We get to the hotel and they say it's going to be $20 extra a night for ocean front. I explained to them that we were told ocean front was included and they said okay and sent us to our room that was ocean front but smelled like someone left 5 cats in there for about a week. We somehow manage to deal with the cat piss smell for the 4 nights we were there.
On our last day we get a letter under the door that says they have charged my card for $220 for the ocean front room. Ugh. We go and speak with the manager and he calls Bluegreen and they come to an agreement to where the hotel refunded me the money. When we go visit the resort it was not two hours but FOUR! They gave us our "free cruise" certificates and it says we have to book the crusie within 60 days of that day and we would have to pay $185 per person for taxes and such and we would have to pay if the price of gas went up. After that we called about 3 months later to book the rest of our nights and they say we do not have anymore nights. That we downgraded our package. Hmmm.... WRONG! Why in the hell would I downgrade my package when I've already paid for it??? I spoke with them on the phone for more than 30 min and got no where. RIPOFF!!!!! You have been warned!
