All right so I write this report on an agency that I had wanted to continue to work with, but now will probably never work for again. Big Orange Productions, from what I can see, is a really good business or so I thought. Now when I say that I meant just out of purely having so many availabe events in cities. Out of all the agencies I have worked for so far, they seem to have events being staffed every day or every other day. Now one would think this would equate to tons of money coming in, if one were to do nearly every event or be booked on every single event. Not true. One huge problem that seems to set this agency back is their payroll and I mean it is REALLY and I mean REALLY slow. From when I did an event for them in May 28, I had been tracking how long it had taken for them to cut me a check. Generally, in the events and promotions industry, many agencies say that the "industry standard" and by the way, I have no idea where they get that standard from, is 30 days. This is not the first time I have been paid nor waited for a check for this long; however, there are definitely better businesses, agencies, out there that have paid me faster. Their contract states that they PROCESS the checks 30 days AFTER the event. It does not go on to say business or including weekends. If it were counting weekends, I should have been paid last Wednesday, as the 30th day falls on a Saturday. In fact, it would still be giving them an extra day to process the check and two days for it to be mailed. If 30 days are only business, I should be paid by this Friday, but the contract DOES NOT state that.

With not being paid, it is not really a big deal for me. I mean I would love my $72 and will try my best to get it; however, I was grateful that I worked a local event for them. I only spent $0.80 in gas getting there and 4 hours of labor. The only thing I wish to see is that this agency changes its ways to processing checks. I am sure if the agency kept its staffing opportunities, which are WAY ABOVE par in just how many opportunities they give per week and pay faster, they could be one of the best agencies out there. In terms of payment, I am highly disappointed. If I actually went out of my way to travel, which they also sometimes pay for, depending on the distance and had done a longer event; I probably would have been pissed. This is just a forewarning for people working for this agency.

All in all, I hope this post would actually help this agency to streamline it's paying process and even more so help caution people that do work. This agency, just from this one time, really does take all 30 days to process a check as little as $72. That is kind of worrisome. I just thought I would take time out to write about them.

Out Sick

Hi! This also happened to me. I was working at another job for 4 months, and then wanted to get put back on the email list. I had worked for Big Orange for a year, and did a good job. I called all the event specialists, leaving a message, and nobody ever returned my call. If you go to the office, it is always locked, but the staff is there during the day Monday thru Friday. I am glad this happened to someone else, sorry, because there must be a glitch in the system. Did you finally get put back on the list? I regretted that I had told them about this other job. I should have just continued to get emails. I just wanted to know if you cleared it up, and if so, HOW? Karen

not to mention pay

I have only worked 6 events and have only been paid for 1. Who really has a month to wait between jobs. Pathetic.

fees

The past couple of emails I have received from Jamie Chavis had been threatening to charge me a rebooking fee, a cancellation fee and another fee. Seriously, I do not want to book with this person. A 35 dollar fee is ridiculous. I feel like she is trying to scam.

At first , my experience with Big Orange was a good experience. They seemed to pay on time, or within a few days of when they are supposed to pay you. I was recieving regular booking invitations from the booking agents. That is, until I had gotten sick, and sent in a doctors note. I was then removed from their mailing list, without warning ( meaning I am not longer recieving event notifications, making it so I no longer work ) .

I had contacted every single event specialist in reguards to this over the past two weeks. Not one person out of the 6 booking agents has responded to me.

I then contacted those who are in charge of big orange; all of the higher ups whom I had found on the big orange website landing page. I was contacted back by one of them. They were kind, apologized for me being sick, and for getting removed. They had stated they would get me back onto the mailing list for work. This was 10 days ago. Within those ten days, I have been emailing everyone. The event specialists, the higher ups, and I have left voicemails to them. No one is responding to me.

I had been with the company just shy of a year. I had worked for them quite a few times, without issues. I am unsure as to why I am being given the cold shoulder by each and every single person from this company.

It just isnt right, when all you do for work is this type of work due to a medical issue which prevents you from working full time. It isnt right when this is what you depend on for an income, and they either straight up ignore you, or make false promises.
