After being lured to sign up on Bharatmatrimony.com, a dating site, and then getting bombarded with phone calls to pay the high registration fee (about $100 for 3 months), my profile gets suspended for no apparent reason after two days. The site then, shockingly, demands that I send government ID to verify my identity. Althpugh I find the request to be a complete invasion of privacy, I unwilingly send a copy of my ID such that my account can stay open. After sending the ID, the account remains closed. Two days later I finally reach a customer service agent who states the most shocking site policy to me. Please see excerpt of chat below:

So, in 2015, a dating website believes that only Indians should marry Indians and actively disables the account of all members who are not Indian, regardless of whether they have paid for the services.
This site should realize that once it opens business on the internet, it can not simply limit access by race. A loud and clear message should be sent to Bharatmatrimony to wake up them up to the new millenium. Indians are not limited to marrying only Indians. People are free to choose who they want to marry, regardless of race or creed.
