Bettenhausen Fiat advertised a lease deal, 24 months, $99 per month, $1,390 due at signing. I arrived there with the ad in hand and explained that this deal was the only car I was interested in. The dealer stated he had several models on the lot. I explained once again that I wanted to see the cats in the advertised deal. He than told me that for the car to be automatic it may raise the monthly payment up just a little bit, probably $10 or so. I was shown a car that was "included" in this deal ", took it for a test drive and came back to go over the paperwork. To make a long story short, the dealers first attempt would have cost me almost $4000 down and a monthly payment of $300 and some odd change. I once again reminded him of the ad in my hand, at which time he requested the assistance of another dealer stating "that he had only done a few lease deals". The second attempt was even more down payment and higher payment monthly. He then called his manager over who informed me that "they had already sold the car". Now my problem is that no where on the advertisement did it state that there was only one car available for lease. Why was a lease car sold? After all there were at least 20 other cars on the lot. Why was I shown these cars that were not available for lease? And why wouldn't the manager substitute a comparable car for me to lease? There were signs advertising that deal in two or three other cars on the lot. I wasted several hours there due to this dealerships deceptive practice. Their false advertising caused me to go there in the first place under false pretext. The worst part was that the same ad was in the newspaper for the next week. We all hear about the shadiness of car dealers and the scans they attempt, but this one was a doozy in my opinion. I wouldn't advise anyone to have any dealings with this company.
