Just wanted to inform everyone that I bought a Bengal kitten from Bengalglitz on 3/15/14 and she just tested positive for Tritrichomonas Foetus, Feline Corona Virus, and Clostridium on 4/22/14. Michelle Gattshall (owner of Bengalglitz) refuses to pay for any of the testing or bills that I have had to do which now totals over $400. Her reply was ""sorry"" and that it is treatable and her adults haven't tested positive. However she wouldn't tell me what test was done, when, and the Vet's name. (TF is hard to diagnose unless you do the PCR test). I have no other animals in my home.
My kitten had diarrhea the first night I got her and I thought maybe it was just the stress as it seemed to improve a little. I took her to the vet within the 72 hours and they did a fecal test and couldn't find anything (which is normal if your cat has TF). Then a couple of days later it got worse. I emailed Michelle on 3/26 and asked if any of the other kittens in her litter were having this problem and she said admitted that she recently got a kitten about a month ago that tested positive for coccidia. So I started my kitten on Albon (treatment for coccidia). After 3 days I saw no improvement so I emailed Michelle again and asked how long it took to see improvement. I also asked if it could be TF or giardia.
She said they've never tested positive for either. She suggested I also treat my kitten with Metronidazole. I started my kitten on that immediately. After a week of treatment there still wasn't improvement. In order to test for TF, you have to be off antibiotics for at least a week. So we waited and had her tested with a PCR test and I did a full diarrhea panel test ($250) and it came back positive for TF, Corona Virus and Clostridium. My kitten is now being treated with Ronidazole ($80). If anyone wants to see my tests/emails please feel free to contact me. I don't want anyone to go through what I did.
