My wife took my son and daughter here for a consult for ortho treatment with Dr. Flora Chen. Keep in mind it was a consult. We found the practice online in our network of providers. Nicole one of the office staff who goes over all the charges sat with my wife to discuss the treatment plan an costs. She was throwing around lots of numbers and charges and then following that up by saying stuff like "oh but we are throwing in the retainers at no cost, the beginning and end records at no cost" making it sound like they were doing us a favor. Trust me they are not throwing in anything for FREE. It's a sales tactic that scammy sales people use to have you not focus on the real charges just to get you to sign the paperwork. My wife was swindled into giving them $500 down as a deposit so they could start all the paperwork and get the file created. On the way out of the appointment my kids were handed a bag which had a nice OralB power toothbrush, a docking station, a timer, a tee shirt, mouth wash, toothpaste and oh can't forget the jelly beans. She was told it was a "GIFT". Well after we reviewed all the paperwork and the charges that night (without the pushy sales tactics going on) we noticed a few charges that were funny. I called my insurance provider and went over the charges with them. Well it turns out that they cannot charge certain fees being that they are apart of the network that we belong to. They were trying to charge us a "contract set up" fee of $350.00 each kid as well as $190.00 for the "GIFTS" they gave my kids. Now I don't know about you, but a gift is a gift and not something you get and then have to pay for later. We decided to go with a different orthodontist that is honest and does right by their patients. There are no hidden fees and nasty sales gimmicks. I contacted Nicole to request the $500 be refunded to us and she said that since the "GIFTS" were open and the contracts were already set up there would not be a refund. This place is joke and nothing more than a scam. I would run the other way before even considering going here for any treatment.
