Late last year, my wife and I planned a trip to Titusville to watch my daughter's college softball team play in their spring training games March 6th through the 13th. We were delighted to find a place in Titusville that looked fantastic - a two bedroom apartment that slept 6 with a beautiful pool overlooking the Indian River, newly renovated rooms and state of the art gym. We found this place - the Bay Towers - on the popular website booking.com.
Upon arrival though, it was immediately apparent that this was a complete and total scam. The Bay Towers advertised on booking.com is absolutely nothing like the actual thing. The place was filthy dirty, completely run-down, and had the disgusting smell of human and animal urine and feces, along with marijuana smoke. There were live wires sticking out of walls along with other holes in the wall, no smoke alarm present, cracked floors, visible mold on the walls and ceilings and filthy dirty carpets. We learned that most of the rooms had permanent residents - if you chose to live in that filth, that is your prerogative, but there was no way that I was going to spend 1 minute, let alone 1 week in those conditions with my wife and daughter. They have no business renting these rooms out as vacation apartments.
We were fortunate to find other accommodations for the week and did not spend a single night at the Bay Towers. The wonderful people at Casa Coquina Del Mar run an incredible bed and breakfast and should be the type of establishment that booking.com advertises as opposed to something that looks and smells like the projects in New York and Chicago. I have demanded a full refund, but have not heard back from the ownership or the billing company, which by the way, charged us in full a day after we made the reservation in November. This should have been the first sign that this place was corrupt. Since they have chosen to ignore our calls and E-Mails, I have reported all parties associated with the Bay Towers ownership and management to the Better Business Bureau, the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County, the Titusville Fire Department and the mayor of Titusville, Mr. Jim Tulley. We took close to 50 pictures of Bay Towers inside and out to prove what a sham they are and that our strongly worded statements above are 100% correct.
Upon seeing the Bay Towers, we immediately registered a complaint and dispute with our credit card company as well. Although I doubt that we will get our $1100 back, I hope that no one else has to go through what my family and I did, and will post our experience on every reputable review site.
