Banks-haus German Shepherds Reviews

Donald Banks owner of Banks-haus Shepherds took my female, Captain in 2010 when I ended my German Shepherd breeding business. He was to provide me with auto repairs on my car in exchange for the dog. The first time Donald worked on my car, one of the front wheels flew off my car and into traffic as I was driving on a busy street. I had it fixed and he did send me a check for the expense. After all the work was done, my car lasted about another year and then blew up. But the real issue consists of Donald telling me when he retired Captain, I could have her back. I have all the emails testifying to that fact. When a breeding dog is retired, the breeder has a responsibility to find the dog a good home, free of charge, to live out the rest of their life.

The breeder may have the dog spayed or the new owners will have the operation performed. A female should not be bred after 6 years, but retired at that point. Donald experienced financial difficulties and recently lost his house. He asked another breeder friend of mine to take some of his dogs for a short period of time until he could get situated. She knew Captain and asked for her and Donald brought another male to board at their kennel. This breeder sent me an email telling me she had Captain and Donald was ready to retire her and did I want her now. She also told me that when Captain and the male dog arrived they were both emaciated. She boards dogs as well as breeds Shepherds.

When I sent Donald an email to obtain Captain, he made it clear that I should make arrangements through our breeder friend because he did not want to pay any boarding fee. Since I planned to take her back, I helped out by sending my friend some money to care for Captains expenses, especially for food, which she obviously needed. I was very upset about her being allowed to go without food, but wanted to handle this situation delicately. In the meantime, I decided that Captain would be better off if she went back to the breeder where I got her, because i now live in a 1 bedroom apt. and she would not have the flexibility to go out without being an a leash and I work all day. So I contacted the breeder where I got her and he would love to have her back. I made arrangements with everyone, including Donald to have her go back to her original breeder.

She would have 4 acres to roam on and they loved her too. So for her benefit, she was going to Texas instead. Shortly after arranging everything, Donald then came to my friends kennel and picked up Captain. When I emailed everybody about what happened, my friend answered me by saying Donald just showed up and took her. She was still legally his, so she could do nothing. Doanld did not answer me and for several weeks, I tried to no avail to contact ASPCA, with no results except getting the run around all over the country. Finally, after about six weeks, I contacted Donald again and basically told him without mentioning the emaciation, that I deserved an answer after all my arranging. He did respond and said he had told me that if I sent him $550, he would send her to me. He never even mentioned the arrangement to Texas.

He never sent an email to me mentioning $550, which would have been way too much money anyways. I made sure everything was by email, so I would have proof of everything said. At that point he referred to me as too controlling and it was his dog etc. So then I Informed him I knew he had not been feeding his dogs. Basically he was furious and told me that now I could not have her, and didnt need to decide where else she should go. He never offered me the money I paid, and when I mentioned it to him, he never answered me. I am convinced he is now running a puppy mill and everything is the money and no concern for the dogs that are providing him with a business. He does not keep his word, and lacks integrity. I am afraid he is still going to breed her. She is now 7. This is unacceptable among reputable breeders. Or maybe he found someone that would pay him money for her even at her age. Whatever it is, he is not coming clean and he is not a person to be trusted. He may not even make his guarantee right. People need to be warned about his abuse of the animals and lack of integrity.
