I spent nearly a month researching Balsam Hill making sure I purchased the right tree. I was impressed by their 10 year warranty, especially since I was paying $1100 for a tree. They were very late in making sure their large sample kit was available to purchase so I paid additional money to get it rushed to me. Due to the delay, I had to pay additional money to have my tree rushed to me when I decided which one I wanted.
I got the tree and everything was going well with one small glitch - the trunk sections of the tree were stuck tight together and I couldn't take them apart once I connected them. I called customer service and spoke with Karen who did not even have a simple answer available. Her solution is that I should take the heavy bulky half assembled tree out in the cold so that I could remove one of the sections of the tree from the other section. She had to put me on hold several times to get this unrealistic solution. I decided to use one single drop of baby oil - one single drop - and wipe it on the base of the trunk to separate the two sections. This worked but Karen told me that it voided my entire warranty! I should have taken heed to all the other reports. This company does indeed find any way it can to not honor its warranties and not refund customers!
