i am combing the internet tryiny to read up on surveillance camera systems and was impressed with backstreet's specs, though not their prices. while some folks may have had a bad experience with this company and/or their product, are there any positive reviews?
I bouth a survillance system, before a year 2 cameras stop working i call technical support and they answer "We going replace the cameras, we going send you a email with all the details how send the cameras" this was around 2 months ago , i still calling with no solutions to this problem they dont give any reference by phone!!!
Bought a 16 channel DVR with 5 SDI cameras on June of 2014. Problems and problems with the system from the first day. Called and called and got nowhere. Bruce, Rick, Mac all a bunch of liars and double talkers. Sent DVR back for repair, came back worse than before. Called my credit card company and placed a dispute and sent all their garbage back, and got all my money back.
Stay away from Backstreet Surveillance they will string you along until the warranty expires and then they will lie to you and cheat you out of your money.
I went to Ebay, bought the same system for half the price and with 12 cameras, wire, power box, DVR etc.
I purchased a Surveillence camera oufit from this company on Sept, 10, 2012. I had numerous problems with the camers and cables from day one and spent many hours on the phone and emailing their support department in an attempt to resolve these problems. Afetre several months of calls and emails they agreed the cameras where faulty as well as cables. They provided me with a different style camera and replaced the faulty cables however I could not and still cannot call these cameras HD, (high Definition). I spoke with who I believe is the general manager, MAC and at one point last year he said he would refund me because they felt I could not be satisfied.
I explained that I needed proper instruction and support as they claim they offer and that I also wanted to upgrade to a newer system they offered called SDI over COAX. I continued to have problems with the cameras and cables and I was sent an estimate to swap out my system for the SDI system. I explained I might not be avle to swap the system until 2014 and MAC said no hurry the offer will not expire. Several months ago I had a problem once again with a camera and I called and spoke with a guy by the name of Bruce. He did send me out a new camera. Several weeks ago another camera started failing and I called Bruce and told him the camera was failing and he instructed me to keep 'playing' with the camera and cable and if it still would not work he would send me a new camera. I called Bruce on 9/17/14 and left him a voice message to return my call.
My call was never returned so I emailed support on 9/17, 9/20 and 9/22/14. No emails were answered nor was i called. I called Bruce at Backstreet today and he claimed he only received one email yet he could not explain why he did not respond. I advised Bruce that my 2 year warranty was up on 9/10/14 but in a past phone call he said he would extend it by 6 months. I ask if he was shipping me out a new camera and he told me to return the faulty one and I advised him that they always sent me a new camera and I returned the old one as instructed. I have always complided with the request of Backstreet! Bruce went on to advise me that MAC said the deal on the SDI swap was no longer vaild and in his words, The equipment is mine now. So now that I am out of warranty BACKSTREET now decides to ignore me. That says plenty about their equipment which is sub-standard and the customer service after the warranty is ZIP! The customer service never was great as I had to call and call to demand satisfaction.
My advice is to stay clear of this company. I will be following up with the proper agencies who oversee companies like Backstreet and their refusal to assist me.
I have had nothing but problems with their cameras. I had one three that has failed in less than one year. I have had nothing but problems and the support staff are rude. I have a camera down now! They want me to run an hundred foot cable and get on a ladder just to see if the dam camera is any good. screw that ! I will let the dam thing burn out and buy a new system - lesson learned
i have a set of eight cameras from back street cameras they are four years old and i have four cameras on my desk that or not worth a sh!!. Three cameras have no night vision and one don't work. i called tec. support they want to hook to my system to check my cameras the ones i have now work find how will they tell me if they or bad when they or in a box i replaced with cameras that work. I work with electric power all my life i think i would know if the power supply is bad i hook those cameras to three power supply's. so don't think if you buy a high dollar cameras you have good system don't waste your money.
all i asked was i was going to send them back at my cost and lei them check but they say its the power supply like i cant read a multmeter.
Dont buy cameras from backstreet cameras they not what you think they or
