I purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee for my pregnant daughter. In less than one month, the vehicle started to run hot. I told her to take it to a local repair shop where it was checked out. They informed me that the Jeep had a blown head gasket and would cost around$1500.00 to fix. I had not even made the first payment yet. I contacted the person at Automaxalabama that sold it to me and they told us to bring it there to be looked at. I had the vehicle towed because I was afraid for her to drive it across town. They kept the Jeep for 4 days and finally told me that there was nothing wrong it although we had to put a gallon of coolant in it. When we went to pick it up, the repairman said we owed him $50.00 for diagnostic exam. I took the Jeep to another auto repair shop and they too told me that the Jeep had blown head gasket. i attempted to call the manager several times and was placed on hold for over twelve minutes and nobody ever came to the phone. I left messages that we're never responded to. The Jeep is now in the shop being repaired to the tune of $1500.00 minimum. Because my daughter is 7 months pregnant and has a 9 year old daughter I had to rent a cae for $300.00 to get around while it is being fixed. All that I wanted Automaxalabama to do was repair the problem. It is very disheartening when you pay as much as I did for a car that I thought would be safe a reliable to have it break down before the first payment is made and to be treated with such indifference.
We stopped at AutoMax USA a few weeks ago to look at a car to replace and trade in an older low milage one that didn't suit the way we needed. We saw one vehicle that we liked and were interested in. After talking with the sales person that put his name in the fake review, We started talking about financing and buying a 2005 cadillac devile.. We test drove it and everything seemed okay and at this pony nothing really tripped our attention that something foul was up. Once we started talking money i noticed they were charging more than the KBB retail dealership worth and tried to sell it as excellent condition claiming they installed new tires/brakes that were "higher costing" which accounts for the price as well as a full service / inspection. We continued to proceed with the sale explaining to them we want a warranty on this car of some kind as they tried to sell the vehicle as is. Now we arrive to when things got complicated.. They refused to add any warranty and as a result of a good hour or 2 of talking, negotiating and threatening no deal, They "threw in" a 3 month warranty through another company. We signed the deal somewhat reluctantly saying they were on our side.. 3 days later: Driving normally on route 71 - polaris parkway when the dash started sounding an alarm about "engine temp too hot.. stop and idle now" I immediately pull over and turn the car off and call the dealership explaining what had happened. They said we are having a tow truck come get it and bring it back here. I had my scan gauge with me to tell me why the check engine light was on and reported back p0122 which means "Throttle Position Sensor / Switch A Circuit Low Input" Next day: Get a call from the dealership manager telling me that the head gasket is blown and they are replacing the engine, I told him that the Onstar was also not working as that was a selling point during the process. He brushed that to the side pretty much ignoring it. They said they would replace the engine at no charge to us. Told it would take about a week.. Following week: Called and told the engine replacement is finished and its all ready to be picked up. Arrive and get keys and once i start it the check engine light comes on right away. I had brought my scan tool once again and this time got a P0300 "Multiple / random cylinder misfire" walked back in to tell the dealership manager who proceeded to have his mechanic drive and check it. Was told they will once again take it to the delaware location to examine the issue and will call me back around 2pm. We get a call saying its not giving that code anymore but another sensor is reporting to have an issue and we want to replace it. So we wait over the weekend to monday and get another call telling us the code isn't coming back on the tire sensor they were going to replace as well so we won't replace it. I come pick up the car that night and everything seems fine until the AC is turned on and find that the blower is kicking on and off repeatedly .. call dealership and was told to wait it out a few days. Next call was to say okay bring it in tomorrow but we are pretty much done working with this car from our end. Our experience Was DISTURBING if not down right shady during the whole process. I don't recommend this place to anyone! Horrible Business Practices.
