When you contact Robert Shipley, sole proprietor, Auto Value Experts in San Antonio, he is quick to ask you about damage to your vehicle aND YOUR ESTIMATE OF DAMAGE, and work up a printed diminished value report which he will deliver to your house. If you are skeptical as I was(about the quick response and delivery to your home), he will agree to give you references and give you more time.
References were skeptical and online reports were mixed, but greed influenced my decision to pay Robert $450 to give me a diminished value report(computer driven) saying I WOULD GET DIMINISHED VAlue of $5833.00 that he said he would file with insurance company. I contacted the insurance company to see if the report was filed and it was not--When I informed them of my claim for potential value, they immediately offered me $2000. Later, when they received Robert Shipley's report and had one conversation with him,. they offered me $2500.
The insurance company called me later and offered the same $2500.. This was during the first week of jUNE. ROBERT CALLED ME AFTER THIS OFFER AND i TOLD HIM i WOULD NOT ACCEPT IT. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER,I TEXTED ROBERT ASKING HIM ABOUT ANY CONTACTS HE HAD WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY--I haD about ONE WEEK later ASKED Robert by text message to advise me what was happening and requested a phone call.
He never responded to my message and my request to call me to discuss options, one of which was going to court, which he promised to appear at, if required. He insulates himself from customers by declining to provide a business address and by taking calls only on his cell phone with a message that" he is not avialable at the moment , but will return your call as soon as possible". He does not returns calls after he gets your money and files the report with the insurance company and has a minimum of one personal contact as he did in my case.
Do not use this man as his intentions are not sincere and he insulates himself from your phone calls with no responses. Hire a reputable company, not this person, and you will do as well or better, or simply go to a dealer, get a diminished value report, and file it with the insurance company.
