Anthony Dooley took $2,300 from me to replace my roof, which he never did. Anthony Dooley came to my house and inspected my hail damaged roof, posing as an employee of Hero General Contracting. I thought I was working with Hero General Contracting, but there were several different phone numbers from what was on the sign that they placed in my front yard. He came to my house after the insurance adjustor made their inspection and estimate and discussed what we would do. He asked for a check for $2,300 to purchase the shingles to replace the roof, which he said he could do within the same week. He asked what bank the checking account was with. I gave him this information because I trusted that he was a roofer and did business professionally. He had me believe he has been a roofer for 40 years, and he had two kids and lived in a trailer. He did not call me or show up when he said he would. I called him several times and when I finally spoke to him he told me his mother was ill in the hospital so he has been really down and busy. He said he would come in the next few days, which he did not. I called him again and he brought up his hospitalized mother again and said it didn't look like she was going to make it. He again said he would come out in the next few days, which again, he didn't. I called him and left several messages, and he never called me back. I called and finally reached him. He said he was depressed, and apologized, saying he would come the day after next, and he would give me a discount for the trouble, because he is not that kind of guy, and he was sorry to scare me. He cashed my check on May 19th, and it is now June 13th. He was supposed to come out today, but his phone is now not receiving calls. I have no other way to contact him. I told him several times in voicemail and conversation that I needed my money back, or my roof replaced. Neither has happened, and I am left to believe he is a scam artist who stole money that I received from my home insurance. I called a place in Fort Worth called Lighthouse Roofing because he showed me an estimate on letterhead with that title, but they told me they did not have anyone with that name, but that they had received several phone calls about him doing this type of thing, and from credit card companies trying to get a hold of him because he has maxed out cards. I am now out that money, and have had a very damaged roof, which I now cannot afford to replace.
