Like many of you, I fell for "Matt Moore"'s friendly manner and quick response for a quote. I signed a "binding contract"on 05/23/14 for a cross-country move from GA to CA to occur on 07/26-07/27. I expected a call 2 weeks prior, as indicated in the contract. A week before I was to leave CA and meet the "Express Movers" at my storage unit, I still had had no contact from anyone at AMG or the movers. I talked with my bank. They advised me to wait until 07/28 and if the contracted services were not performed, they would open a fraud claim on my behalf. I called, emailed AMG and finally "Jack" contacted me for an updated inventory list. I sent one out right away, noting that no one can remember everything they put in storage. My move was to have taken place on a Saturday or Sunday. I flew across country on Friday, 07/25, and readied my items for transport. On 07/25, some woman called saying that the movers would arrive on Sunday but could not give me a time range. On 07/26, "Raj" called saying that the truck had "mechanical issues" and that they would "possibly be here on Monday". I told them that was unacceptable. My contract said Sunday at the latest. Raj said he would call me back on Sunday.
Based on my experience thus far, and in reading other reports and BBB complaints, I have little to no confidence that any reputable mover will actually show up. In south FL alone, (where AMG has been licensed only since late 2013) already 16 complaints have been submitted to the BBB. You'll note the lengthy response someone at AMG submits to the complaints. If only such effort was expended to provide the service we have all paid for.
Come Monday morning, as soon as AMG is in default, I will contact my bank, file a e-dispute with the Palm Beach County ( that is where the business is supposedly located) Consumer Affairs, and request FDLE to drive by the business location to see if it is an office with people or just a mailbox. If you check Florida's search.sunbiz.org, you'll find that the registered owner of AMG is "Paul Gousgounis". On a side note, since signing the "contract" I have started getting magazines made out to names I do not recognize at my address. Has this happened with anyone else?
As far as collecting damages go, if the Consumer Affairs folks are unable to help, there is always small claims court. In FL the max is $5000. If you (or I) go this route, ask for a jury trial when the paperwork is filed. How keen will Mr. Gousgounis be to get this dsimissed?
This company is adept at defrauding its customers! Let's do something about it!
We had a situation where we had packed and moved most of the boxes in our house into one large room when they had emailed a sales letter. We told them we could not give an accurate box count due to the inaccessiblity of "box mountain" and the sales person said "no problem-we'll just base the moving price on X amount if X number of boxes and Y amount if Y number of boxes.
After they got our deposit nobody else in their chain of command was even aware of what the sales person had quoted us and it was very frustrating thereafter...
Finally on moving day the mover who would be coming by was another person who knew nothing about the original sales agreeement and quoted me a price DOUBLE their original qoute. Needless to say we made other plans with all due haste and this was a classic case of bait and switch and don't trust what the sales people quote-get it in writing!!
On June 4, 2014 I made a reservation with Adam the mgr with American Moving Group.
I had to change my move 2 seperate times, spoke to adam and the dispatcher and the quality assurance with the change and they agreed to the change for June 28-29 2014.
At the time of reservation i was told that my belongings were gonna be stored in Smryna, Georgia. I was also told that the movers would pack up my things and they would store my belongings for 30 days in Georgia.
On June 27, 2014 i spoke to Adam and he stated that i had called TOO many times, "why would you take my stuff to Florida when im moving to Marrietta Georgia? He stated not to worry and stop calling his FUCKING extention and the the business does not revolve around me and to FUCK OFF!
On June 28-29, 2014 I did not recieve any call from the movers NOR did they come to my place to pick up my belongings. Not only did i have to reschedule my flight and pay EXTRA, i also had to pay for a storage 7 miles from my old house in Minnesota.
I had to return to Georgia with NOTHING and now i have to pay or find a whole new vender to move my belongings, in the mean time i'm currently paying $125 a month for a storage unit in Minnesota.
THIS COMPANY IS "TERRIBLE" TO DO BUSINESS WITH AND NOT TO BE TRUSTED....DO NOT USE THERE SERVICE!
It all started on 7/15/2014 with a call from a guy named "Dan Morris" with AMG, he gave a great sales pitch assured me that his quality assurence guy "Jack" would call my husband and update our inventory list for our move he scheduled for 7/19-7/20/2014. He assured his QA guy would call on Wednesday to go over stuff with my husband. Wednesday came no call, Thursday no call. Friday I texted Dan & the 1-800 number to my husband he gets a hold of "Dan" who says there were notes in his system from "Jack" saying he spoke with my husband on 7/17/2014, which this did not happen, my cell records prove that.
So on 7/18/2014 "Jack" tells my husband that he needed to have certain things boxed up and that he was pushing the movers out until 7/21/2014-7/23/2014 so he could get an updated inventory list from my husband. So 7/21/2014 these "movers" show up in an unmarked truck, had another families stuff on it and they wanted to charge us more than double what we were quoted!!! While the movers were there my husband attempted to get a hold of "Jack" and "Dan" to figure out what in the hell was going on. On top of this the movers asked where the stuff was going to!?! My husband replied with our destination and they replied they didn't go there. So my husband had no luck on getting a hold of either of these people, who stated they are there if any problems should occur.
Long story short, today I call to complain and to get my deposit back for their lack of service well after being transferred from. "Patti" to another woman I had the wonderful pleasure of speaking to a charming, all sarcasim imtended, man named "Max". He is the "GM/Owner" of AMG and by far one of the most rudest, offensive loud-mouthed people I have EVER dealt with. Not only did he try to tell me it was mine & my husbanfs fault, he also told me I needed to be a normal person and avcept blame in this and I should quit whining about it and be mad at my husband. I loterally tore him a new one and told him he hasn't heard the last of me that falsifying business records is illegal, and so is fraud in the inducement of a contract. He proceded to tell me that he is polishing his Rolex, and treated me with complete disrespect. So I investigated this company further.
upon finding the articles of incorporation for tjis company I find their agents name, I search him and one comes up in CT and FL, which explains his thick east coast accent, I also googled the address on the articles and it's a PO Box, whi h I confirmed with the police department there. This is, in my opinion, a one man band, he pretends to be different people, he even pretended to be a guy named "Ben" then here came loud mouth Max on the phone. I habe informed my bank that this was a scam and they are investigating at this time and tomorrow I am contacting my local authorities as well to press charges in this matter. All I can say to "Max" "Dan" "Jack" Paul(agents first name) is you messed with the wrong one! I figured you out and I know you will read this, the FTC has been made aware of this as well. So have fun with the shitstorm you created I got ya.
If anyone would like to contact me to get a solid case against this low life please do we can get all of our money back
