We ordered supplies for a breathing machine to reduce snoring. American HomePatient was covered under our Blue Cross Plan. They went out of network and did not inform us when we ordered new supplies. The insurance company said American HomePatient should have advised us. Thus, we were billed for the entire amount of the supplies. I appealed to Blue Cross to attempt to get still get the supplies covered and the claim was denied.

I informed American HomePatient that they were out of network. They continued to state that they were still in network.

Twice a month I continued to receive phone calls to order new supplies. Each time I informed them that their company was out of network and they assured me that they were in network still and the supplies would be covered.

In an attempt to resolve the billing/coverage problem I spoke to American HomePatient multiple times, received conflicting information consistently, and talked to personnel at multiple company locations as directed by them. Finally after numerous attempts to resolve the issue with our bill via their billing office, I was able to speak with an individual from their corporate office. This individual came to an agreement with me to pay the amount that would have been billed had the company been in network. This agreement was negotiated to pay the account in full. I immediately sent a check for the agreed amount.

Now American HomePatient went back to a prior bill and are asking us to pay the out of network amount. They are going to send it to collections. WE ALREADY NEGOTIATED A FINAL PAYOFF.

This company knew full well that they were out of network and continued to attempt to sell us supplies and stating IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER OUR INSURANCE . SCAM UNETHICAL

They are located in various locations across the US. BEWARE.
