American Custom Trailers Reviews

Like the other accounts I read here I found American Custom Trailers (AKA A C Fabricating from Macon, Georgia, AKA American Custom Trailers AKA Florida Marine AV Inc.) on Ebay while searching for a motorcycle cargo trailer. I too was attracted to Bruce Everett's explicit description of the first rate trailers he builds and sells.

I had several long phone conversations with Bruce during which he showed an impressive understanding of pull behind motorcycle trailers and their use. He was quite convincing when he told me of his company's uncompromising quality control standards and that every trailer he builds is personally driven by himself on a course designed to test all aspects of the trailer's operation before shipping. I was sold and placed an order on June 17, 2013. I authorized Bruce to charge my Visa card for $2394, which he did. The charge was to Florida Marine AV Inc. He was to email a complete build sheet showing the options we discussed. I was told to expect a 2-3 week lead-time. The build sheet never arrived. When I called Bruce told me that they would send it before the trailer shipped. At about four weeks I began to call for the status of my order. Each time Bruce assured me that my trailer was in process and should ship soon. At about five weeks he said the trailer was complete except the air bladders which were delayed at his vendor but should arrive any time. Around six weeks he told me he had a guaranteed ship date for the bags and my trailer would go out by the end of the week. At the seven week mark he was still waiting for the bladders. At eight weeks he stopped responding so I called the other number I had which I believe was the shop number. I reached his brother Brian who told me the bladders were in and my trailer should ship by the end of the week. It's now coming up on 10 weeks and I am getting no response to calls or emails despite the fact that I threatened legal action if I didn't hear from them. I just filed a fraudulent charge case with my Visa provider.

After reading what others received I guess I'm lucky that mine was never shipped. This assumes that Visa is able to refund my payment, which they say may take up to 60 days. So, the summer's pretty much gone, I have no trailer and can't really buy another until I get my money back from this mess. What a waste of time and effort this guy and his company have been.

I ordered a trailer from Bruce Everett who owens American Custom Trailers and goes by several different company names after i found them on E Bay , i liked the trailer but wanted to add several options to the trailer so i called him directly( First Mistake). I told Bruce that i needed it delivered to me in two months time so i can go on a cross country trip and he said they are usually done in a months time, so i ordered it with the upgraded suspension which is an air ride system for 300.00 extra and paid him with a debet card (Second Mistake)

I called after a month and he said trailer was a little late because they moved to a new bigger locationin Georgia and had electrical issues like not having the correct permits to have it installed but he said the issue would be resolved soon so i said i would call in another month. This time he said the vendor that supplies the air ride in Arazonna is taking longer than usual that he was tracking several suspensions from other dealers and should have it soon. Another two weeks go by and he said my trailer was sitting all compleated along with others and as soon as the air suspension arives he would ship it towards Chicago so i could pick it up.....After several weeks leaving e mails and numerous phone calls no reply and no trailer and i had to cancelled my trip for a wedding in Oregon which is why i wanted the trailer in the first place........

The first mistake in ordering it directly so E Bay could not help me since i diden't order it through them, the second mistake was not using a credit card so i could persue it through them and it was over a month my bank said they could not help eather

They seem to have dissapeared so if anyone has there address in Georgia i will say HI in person...

I found American Custom Trailers on Ebay while searching for a motorcycle cargo trailer. I was attracted to Bruce Everett's ad because he gave a very full, detailed description on the trailer he was selling. The ad stated that the trailer had 15" wheels, Aqua Tread Tires, Only American made parts, no rivets, a cooler holder, correct wiring for any motorcycle, registration paperwork, and an average build time of 2 weeks from the time the order is placed.

I was impressed by the ad, and in spite of a zero feedback score, I elected to speak with Bruce about purchasing a trailer. Bruce, who actually operates under the name Florida Marine AV Inc, assured me that every trailer he built, was built with only the exact parts he specified in the ad, and that he was uncompromising in quality control. He told me that every trailer he builds is fully assembled, then personally driven by himself, then given his final "magic touch" before shipping.

Based on the ad and Bruce's assurances, I placed an order and paid $2300 for a trailer. I mentioned to Bruce that I had a trip in two months, and he told me there would be no problem, other than that he would never ship a trailer that was not built with the exact parts he specified due to the quality of materials he used.

Where to begin. Instread of 2 weeks, the trailer took almost 2 months. When the trailer arrived, it had the wrong wheels and tires, it was missing the running and interior lights I paid extra for, it was missing top rails I paid extra for, it was missing the cooler rack, and it was missing a wiring harness.

The trailer does not come with paperwork to register it. Bruce explained to me, after it was shipped, that the trailer is actually a kit, and that I would need to have it registered as a home built trailer, which adds significant hassles to getting the trailer on the road.

Bruce blamed all of the missing and incorrect parts on my "rushing" him to get the trailer out 7 weeks later than it was due to be done. He never apologized, and wanted me to drive several hundred miles to him, to get the correct parts! When I refused and threatened to return the trailer, he agreed to ship the correct parts. Only a few of the parts have arrived a week later.

I have never received the correct wheels and tires, the wheel and tires sent actually rub on the fenders.

I have never recieved the tie down rails for the top of the trailer. There are rivets on the trailer, and there are Chinese parts. The trailer had never been assembled, there was paint in the threads of the axle studs, and clearly Bruce would have noticed the incorrect tire size.

I'm ready to go on my trip finally, after buying correct tires locally, purchasing my own rails, installing a proper legal brake light, having the trailer inspected as a home built, and installing the lights and wiring that Bruce was suppoosed to install. I spent almost $500 purchasing parts for my trailer that I had already paid Bruce for, in order to make the trailer road worthy.
