Ally told me it would close my account if I did not provide a physical street address. I value my privacy, and I have a post office box which receives all my mail. This is a common practice in the United States and has been so for a very long time. Anyway, I told Ally to go ahead and close the account. There was no attempt to transfer me to an account recovery specialist, no understanding of privacy; it was goodbye to the customer, full stop. This is a despicable bank. That must be the reason why so much official effort is being made online and elsewhere to portray Ally as "number one," as if this bank is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It isn't. To Ally, the customer is an enemy.
I keep getting called by a Jamican lady out of a Philipines call center on behalf of Ally Financial. This lady is lying and using Illegal calling techniques. I am late on my payment yes I know this, but she is now calling my father telling him she is going to reposses my car? wtf? She also called my brother threatening the same? this is illegal in the US by the way - you would think a company like Ally Financial would not allow this to happen. I dont even know how they got my fathers and brothers info? I have reported this several times to ally and they have done nothing. consumer advoactes need to look into this - ally your good name is being tarnished eith extremley poort customer service.
2007 Chevy Cobalt: Purchased 10/11/06 in the amount of $28,460. Monthly payments were $399 per month was original agreement with GMAC. Then, GMAC sold loan to ALLY Auto. Payment were paid a few times late but made. In 2011, I filed bankruptcy and the remaining balance on car was paid and in 2012 my title was sent to me released from the bankruptcy court and my attorney.
In August of 2014, due to retiring and income less than when I went into the bankruptcy and mortgage company raising my payment placing over allowed amount to pay, it was dismissed. So, two years later, Ally collections/bankruptcy department contacts me and says I still owe $6,228 more and they have placed a lien on my title and pulled it back.
This really flipped my mind. The two gentlemen in that office just made my day always. Ally collection told me that I had to give them $545 (around that a little higher) to keep it from being repossed within 10 days as of October, 2014. On 10/20/14 and every two weeks after that I had to give them $1,500 until the $6,000 was paid and the last payment would be more due to interest that would be added every two week.
If I pay this amount, it would definitely be beyond and above the initial financed cost with GMAC. Never once has Ally sent any form of paper work showing me how this amount came about. I mean they will need to give me accurate payment history from 2006 to 2012 because what is filed in the State of Ohio bankruptcy court and my bank payments for this car is definitely in dispute.
My son & I financed a car through GM/Ally financial. My son made ALL the payments, since it was his car. # years into it I filed chapter 13 bankruptcy, and included the car at my attorneys approval. After 3 years on my ch.13 pmt plan, ALly was apid off for the amount approved. They sent us the title and a lien release, and then put a $1200 charge off on MY SONS credit.
They never contacted him or gave him the opprrtunity to pay the $1200, which was the reduced interest from the chapter 13. We tried to have the credit report companies get it removed, but Ally wouldn't remove it. So now my son has a charge off on his credit, even though they never even gave him the opportunity to pay, because he would have.
