Firstly, this may be the most unprofessional company I’ve ever had the displeasure of working for. I am a veteran, and am astounded at how I was treated.
I was promised to work at a specific location because of my SECRET security clearance. I signed a document stating I could work at the site as long as I received my clearance within six months if I didn’t have one. Come to find out, my clearance was expired, so they initiated the process to renew it.
During this time, they didn’t have me working, even though I asked why I couldn’t work even though I signed a document stating I could work as long as I received my clearance within six months. An employee by the name of Alicia Medellin (supposedly she’s HR) stated this was her first time doing this process and didn’t quite know what to do.
My supervisor, last name Buckley (hard to miss, he has no teeth) called me to come in and work at a hospital (which I never signed up to do) to stand guard over patients that the police brought in. The first night I worked 13 hours, which I was scheduled for 12. The second night I worked 5 hours, which I was scheduled for 12.
After that, weeks went by with NOTHING. He called me two more times at random times to see if I was available for work, which I wasn’t because again, RANDOM times. He became so angry; he started yelling on the phone acting so immature and unprofessional. He stated this company was paying for my clearance, and I should be available 24/7. When I told him I had a life outside of work, and I didn’t sign up to work hospitals at random times, he became enraged and hung up.
I went in two days later to check the status on my clearance, and an HR employee named Ruben stated I had been terminated the day prior for “refusal to work”. I stated I received nothing in writing or was not notified. He then brought Alicia out who started yelling at me in front of everyone at the office that I never answered when they called. I told her I want something in writing stating why I was being terminated and she said, “we don’t have to give you anything, you only worked a week”. I told her I would take this higher and she said, “I don’t care, bye”.
Again, the unprofessionalism of this company is astounding. I’ve seen people get treated better in the Middle East, and coming from a veteran, I’m embarrassed for these Americans. Reading most of the complaints about this company on this site, all I can think is I AM NOT SURPRISED. I contacted corporate HR the following day, and no one would take my call, and no one has returned my messages. This company left a bad taste in my mouth and I’m disgusted, but fortunate they did me a favor by terminating me without cause.
