Alliance One Receivables Reviews

So a couple of years ago I got a speeding ticket, was going through a divorce and some generally hard times and simply neglected to pay it. That was admittedly dumb and nobody else's fault. I got a notice from the DMV that my license had been suspended and the ticket, with fees etc. was now around $400. Yikes. Naturally, I wanted my license back so I contacted the court, and was referred to Aliiance One. I paid the amount IN FULL. Within a few days I received notice from DMV that my license had been reinstated. I have not heard anything from the court, DMV, or Alliance one since, and this was well over a year ago.

Today I received a lovely letter in the mail from the state, letting me know that my state tax refund has been garnished IN ITS ENTIRETY and sent to S.D. Superior Court--via Alliance One. The fun thing about this? My refund was $450. You want to know how much Alliance One said it was owed? Yep, $450 on the nose. Gee, isn't that convenient?!?! When do citations *ever* come out to a nice, round number? Seems like the coincidence of the century to me.

Naturally they are not open on Saturday, but I will be there in person Monday morning to demand proof of this debt. I will be contacting the court to verify that I did not owe any money. I will also be getting bank statements and a check image in order to prove that the bill was paid.

You just gotta love that the collection agency employed by the fricking court is either grossly incompetent, or an outright bunch of thieves. I am furious enough about this, as I'm sure that I'm not the only one they've done this to, that I am prepared to pursue this with the D.A. if need be. They STOLE my money, straight up. Bottom-feeding parasites.
