All My Sons Moving & Storage Reviews

  • Jul 17, 2015

All My Sons initially sounded like a great moving company. The sales person that called me promised a professional great move by a family owned company. I was quoted $750 to move a four bedroom house, to assist my husband and I moved all the boxes and little items ourselves. They only needed to move furniture a sofa, loveseat, 2 chairs, a dining table, kitchen table, 4 beds, a dresser and a chest of drawers and 4 televisions. It took four men four hours to load and unload this small amount of furniture as our move was only about 10 minutes across town.

We were charged $950 vs. the $750 quoted. This was irritating but I just wanted to be moved so I didn't push it. Towards the end of my move my son was hooking up his TV when he found that the frame was busted and there was a large bubble on the screen. I called Dominic the supervisor in to see the damage. Dominic took a photo and called his supervisor right then to report the damage. I was told a claim would be filed.

I have left 4 voice mail messages and sent 2 emails over the last week and a half to absolutley no response. I'm extremely disappointed; the website and the salesaman assured me of the insurance coverage, however if they don't file any claims I suppose the amount of coverage doesn't matter.

I recently relocated to the Milwaukee area with a growing company. Everyone that I know will be forewarned about this company and their horrible customer service.

We needed this moving company because the physically useful people in our lives were just too busy, and it wasn't going to happen between me, my wife, and a uhaul truck. Which is sad, because that is by far the best route to go, if you want to ensure that the job is done right and for as little as possible.

My wife and i had recently been hired for a new job in co. That would start the beginning of february. We were excited to be going back to a place we loved, but the only issue was how to get our belongings 600+ miles safely and quickly to our new townhome.

Fear not! after stumbling around, we found a company that did private moves that didn't require we sleep on the floor for a week waiting for three or four other deliveries to be made. Enter all my sons.

We got a quote for what was the equivalent of a two bedroom apartment, no dishwasher or refrigerator, the price was a bit steep, at $4,060. After tax, it was a few hundred more. We were hesitant about that price, and other companies did offer the move for about $1,000 less, but it would be with other people's belongings and the wait time for delivery was 7-10 days. This was winter, and we actually had freak weather which prevented us from packing our own bed and patiently waiting for the remainder of our belongings.

All my sons it was then! after a brief introductory email, the manager at the el paso location assured us that for the price, our belongings would be safe and be delivered quickly. We set up a pick up time, and three workers showed up on time and ready to load our stuff. Before doing any work, the paperwork was reviewed, and the main mover states that the basic insurance (.60/lb/item, so basically nothing) not only includes the weight of your belongings, but the weight of the truck too. If anything went wrong it seemed like it could all be covered with no extra charge. The full insurance was another $600. Hindsight is always 20/20. Anyhow, we paid the first half and the show commenced.

It seemed like they were doing a good job, everything was wrapped in plastic and moving blankets, and they seemed to be very careful with our belongings while loading them. Cut forward to two days later With the storm the estimated day was pushed back to be safe, the movers had to stay overnight in co waiting, because they apparently barreled through black ice and hail)

Moving in to our new rental townhome, it seemed like they had gone from a crew of three, to a two man show. I don't know if they were tired, and irritated they had to spend the night at a hotel, but they were not as friendly as before. They were dragging the couches across a wooden floor and banging the walls with the dolly and our large furniture.

Before they were halfway done the main mover demanded payment because it was already 5 p.M. And the guy at the el paso office couldn't leave before we paid up. So we did. I don't know why we did. We were also tired and the storm had continued through the night while we were driving and a 9 hr trip turned into nearly 12 1/2 hours.

Towards the end of the movers bringing in the last of the furniture, i noticed that the nightstand leg was chipped and missing a stabilzer. I figured i wouldn't bring it up to the workers What would they have been able to do at that point?) and would just send a quick email letting the manager know. Plus with the "truck weight insurance" it should be covered no problem. I wasn't expecting everything to be intact.

They quickly finished up, and took off quicker than a bat out of hell around 9 p.M. Without even letting us inspect the rest of our belongings. Almost every flat surface had deep scratches in it Our stone furniture excluded), our dresser had a large indent, one of the office drawers now striated as if placed between two pressure plates and slowly squeezed, the frame of our brand new 60" flatscreen with a large crack in it.

Needless to say, we were less than impressed. But it was late and we had been awake for far too long. We would deal with it in the morning...Or not. Upon going back upstairs, under our bed there was pieces of the frame that the movers did not even bother to put together correctly. If we hadn't noticed that, we probably would have cracked the frame. In one of the drawers there was about 5 two inch long screws taped together, and we still don't know where they go.

So we had to put this complex frame together so we wouldn't throw away the cash we spent on it. It took us another 2 hours. For labor that we had already paid for, for a job that they didn't seem to have an issue taking things apart but couldn't be bothered to put it back together again.

The frustration i felt at that point almost exceeded my exhaustion, but i succumbed to sleep and decided to send a wordy email with picture evidence in the am. The el paso manager was very surprised that this move had gone so awry, and gave me the information to talk with customer service, and see what kind of compensation could be had.

Great, the basic insurance Weight of truck included) should be more than enough to cover all the damages. Not! my settlement offer was a pittance of $200 ish, based on .60/lb/item. No inclusion of truck weight as previously mentioned. I wanted to ensure that the truck weight clause was true before proceeding with arbitration, so i contacted american moving and storage association, who was the party responsible for being a fair voice in matters like this.

The only problem was, that the arbitration service had no voice. I left a voicemail stating i had questions about the arbitration process and the insurance, to no avail. I waited a few weeks, wrote an email, and...Nothing. It is clear that the service provided by amsa is less than stellar.

So now, i'm past my arbitration right period. But it doesn't matter, because a mute fair voice is like walking into a wolf den covered in raw steak. Just more money to be thrown away and given to this corporate giant that cares naught for the regular joe.

I'm not only recommending that anyone lucky enough to read this steer as far away from all my sons, but any moving company that is a part of the amsa. The list of their movers can be found on promover.Org

Again, i wish i would have remember this wonderful site before moving on, as there are numerous other complaints about all my sons from it seems every base they work out of. And although we have dealt fairly well with the large costs, it may not be the case for others. Save yourself a lot of money and find a different path, we wish we could have.

I will be updating this constantly so that people can be forewarned. Please spread the word about the terrible issues that i, and many others have faced with all my sons and the amsa. I guess i should feel lucky that all our stuff made it here though, since some people's belongings have just disappeared.

I recently helped a friend out that hired All My Sons out of Roswell, GA. I was on the receiving end and was there to help her move things into place at her new house.

Management was generally unreachable while we waited for the trucks that we had no ETA for at the new house. In fact, nobody answered their phones in the office as well as the drivers for a significant amount of time (6 hours) the day of delivery. Then they rescheduled delivery for next morning, however, they didn't show up until 3pm. Upon arrival, boxes were just brought in and dumped in an arbitrary area and not their respective rooms, contrary to what they clame is what they provide as a service. Even with all of the shipping blankets and shrink wrap, almost everything has some sort of damage to it. A very expensive China Hutch had every glass shelf broken, broke and missing wood trim and had many spots that the finish was worn off. Subsequently, the lack of shelves didn't matter as all of her crystal was broken, even after it was bubble wrapped individually and packed well. That was just one of many tragedies in their 90% breakage average. Thousands of dollars in damage was done.

The next truck came the following day around the same time (3pm) and they showed up in a rental truck with no ramp or other tools nesessary to complete the services that they sold. They literally just dumped everything thing in a pile like junk and bolted out of there as fast as they could. They didn't rebuild any of the beds that they charged as a service, lost most of the parts to even put the beds together and literally left a single mom with her two daughters sleeping on the floor and sifting through their broken belongs. I've never seen anything like it. I could go on and on about how terrible this company is run and especially how management spoke to my friend when she WAS able to reach management. The guy spoke to her with nothing but contempt and was unable to give her ANY info on just about every question she asked him.

Since seeing this operation in action, I started researching All My Sons and was not surprised to find horror story after horror story of situations exactly like this one on a local level and nationally as well. All said, do your own research and use your best judgment. Don't be fooled by their fancy proposals and mission statements as most of it is not true.

There were several items of furniture damaged during the move, the main one being the roll-top of a roll-top desk. It is now concave, won't slide. and is unable to be opened, which means the desk is unusable.

I filed the claim within the allotted time period (March 2014) and still have not received compensation. I call the office every couple weeks and am always told that they will get someone to handle it right away. First they told me they had approved a check to be sent, then I was told several times that someone would come out to repair the furniture. No one ever showed up or called to make an appointment. Now again I've been told that a check was sent out on Septemebr 12, 2014, which I have never received. The AMS Claims Department now does not answer the phone. The local office continues to say they will get right on it, but that is nothing but a run-around.

Don't trust what they say and don't use them as your moving company!

My mother needed to move and called All My Sons moving company. They said they would come out on Thursday, October 2, 2014. They showed up and started moving her stuff and was there about 1 1/2 hours when my daughter came over and put the cat in the kennel. When one of the movers saw the cat they told my mother that they were both alergic to the cat and could not move any more furniture due to the cat hair.

She called me and told me and So I called my husband and asked them to call the office. My husband was told that is was not due to allergies but because of the cat hair and that they did not want to have to clean the truck with all the cat hair. They were driving a rental truck. The office told my husband that they would drop the fuel charge off. This was 12%.

At that point my mom said ok and drove to her new place with them following. It took them more than an hour to get there since they were following my mother and she does not driver on the highway.

I was already at the new place and when they showed up they started to off load. It only took them 15-20 minutes. What was taken off the truck was about 30 boxes, a desk, two fold up chairs, a small entertainment center, and a small wine rack. Then the driver called the office to get the charges. I told him that the fuel charge was to be taken off and also asked for a discount since the move was not completed. He talked to his guy and asked if they could only charge $114.00 per hour instead of the $124.00 per hour. I guess this was approved but am not sure. They also charged an upfront fee of 1 hour for travel time. After all was said and done they charged her $484.50 for 3 hours and 5 minutes.

Now I had to find someone else to move her on short notice by Sunday October 5, 2014. This is not an easy task. I called several places. Had one assure me that they would be there Saturday and never showed up. Finally I got someone to due it Sunday afternoon. They charged $79.00 per hour with no trip charge and were done in 3 hours with driver time and only charged $296.00. They got all of the furniture and the rest of the boxes.

January 2014 I contracted All My Sons Moving & Storage to move my furniture from my home in Bluffton SC to temporary storage and to a new home in Dover Delaware.

I estimated 15K for my move, believing the only addition to that weight was a Gladiator upright freezer that I had purchased after moving to Bluffton SC. I asked Mr. Ken Kolbe for a walk through to ensure I had included everything. He did not perform that task. I told him that I needed an antique mirror crated. He did not include that requirement. I told him that there were cabinets in the garage full of Christmas and summer items, he stated that I did not tell him about the garage, but he would have seen the deficiency had he done a walk thru as requested. I asked for a Bill of Lading that identified the empty weight and the loaded weight of the truck with my furniture. They failed to provide that documentation regarding the weight of my move.

We agreed to pack and load my household goods on 21 and 22 October 2013. These dates were critical because the closing to the house was scheduled for 23 October 2013 and the house was to be available for the new owners on this date. Mr. Kolbe provided a cost estimate in writing but later, verbally changed that cost estimate to include packing materials (an additional $700 plus), that I could use a credit card and he would waive the 3% surcharge.

At 9:30AM on 21 October 2013 three workers arrived, took an hour lunch and stopped work at 3PM. They said they quit because my wife had a doctor appointment although they were aware I would be at the house so they could continue working. All My Sons management telephoned the workers to return to work but they did not return. The work effort for this day was 3 x 4 man hours.

At 9:30AM on 22 October 2013 four workers arrived, securing from work at 7:00PM. Two of the workers said they were not experienced in packing or loading. The truck was filled at 7PM. They spoke to All My Sons person named Jason requesting an additional truck. These calls went unanswered/ignored.

My property was scheduled for delivery on 10-12 February 2014. A semi-truck arrived at my Dover Delaware address on 12 February 2014. Four individuals identified themselves as All My Sons employees, presented a final bill for payment in the amount of $7,113.28 (which was paid), and began unloading the truck into my house. Numerous pieces of furniture were damaged and/or broken. Additionally, pieces of my furniture were missing, i.e., the dining room table top (legs had been removed), two each dining room chairs and support bars that were required to hold a folding mirror to the bedroom dresser.

During a telephone conversation with Eric DeWeerd I was told that they found more of my furniture at their warehouse. He stated that he was embarrassed, that he would expedite transport during the week of 24 February 2014. I contacted Brian Gitzen on the morning of 24 February. He told me the furniture would be delivered at the end of the week (28 February 2014). That was cancelled again by Mr. Gitzen, rescheduled for 2 March 2014, cancelled again and rescheduled for 3 March 2014.

All My Sons Moving and Storage of Bluffton SC is in violation of our contract. They have failed to meet schedules they agreed to. They have failed to exercise proper care of my belongings, causing damage to my belongings. In my opinion their charge for this move was excessive. I believe they should be required to pay restitution as a result of their failure to perform as contracted.

I received a quote of $139.00 per hour for packing and unloading plus one hour of travel. Figuring one hour for packing and one hour for unloading a price of around $450.00 seemed somewhat steep for moving a one bedroom condo furniture and already packed boxes a half a mile. My shock was when the bill was over $900.00! They charged for hours they did not work, added 22% of the total for gas. They charged for four hours of work plus one hour travel plus 22% gas fee plus packing materials. We were there to see one hour of packing time and one hour of unloading time. When givien an estimate, the gas fee was never mentioned nor was the fee for materials for packing. The word "theft" comes to mind! I would never recommend All My Sons. Choose any other moving service!

I was quoted a price by All My Sons Moving & Storage, and was forced to pay 46% more than quoted, or I would have lost one-half of my belongings. I hired, via the internet, All My Sons Moving & Storage of Bradenton / Sarasota / St. Petersburg on or about 5/1/14.

I received a phone call from their owner a couple days before the move, which was scheduled on 5/9/14. We spoke for 20 minutes; we negotiated a final and total price of $119.00 per hour, plus 1 hour travel time.

The movers arrived at 9:15 am. I received a phone call from the new house at 4:15 pm, the movers wanted to get paid in full up until 6 pm. They said they were not moving anything else off the truck until they were paid in full. I went there and asked for a price. The total time was 8.75 hours, plus 1 hour travel is 9.75 total hours, multiplied by $119.00 per hour, which would be $1160.25. No, they demanded just under $1,600.00, or they would keep the rest of my belongings that were yet to be unloaded from the moving truck.

I was put on the phone with the owner Matt, he rambled on and on, item after item, of extra charges that were never disclosed to me. In particular, not in the prior phone conversation we had. The most egregious of all was that he wanted me to pay his employees for overtime. When I mentioned this to his employees, they said ""we get this all the time"", followed by ""we work for tips only"". Now, how can the owner demand overtime for his employees when they work for tips only and are not paid? Someone at All My Sons Moving & Storage is lying.

I felt sorry for the three guys and gave them $120, which was $40 a piece. This just added to my costs. The price should have been $1160 according to the 20 minute phone conversation I had with the owner, but it would up at $1700 with tip (which I paid only because they said they weren't paid). That is a 46% charge over what I was told by the owner during our 20 minute phone conversation.

In addition, All My Sons Moving & Storage sent a truck far too small, either on purpose or because they are incompetent, to complete the job in one trip. They wanted to go back and get my additional belongings that they couldn't put on the truck the first time. That could have doubled my price because at that time the employees that ""worked for tips only"" were on overtime for their boss. After being coerced out of an extra $540, I wasn't, nor couldn't afford to have them continue their pre-meditated, well-orchestrated scheme.

Now, I still have a house full of belongings that I have to pay another moving company to move. What I was lead to believe was going to cost me $1160, is going to cost more than double because of All My Sons Moving & Storage. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as this scheme went. It went on to include an attempted fuel surcharge, tape, cardboard, overtime, and things I don't even know anything about.

This was a total scam from beginning to end. I'll get by, but some customers with limited funds could wind up losing half of their possessions to this company. It's no wonder that they also have a ""storage"" facility. How many poorer people's belongings are in there?

I called All My Sons moving to get a quote on an upcoming move. I was given a quote of "around $600" but they wanted a $100 deposit to "secure the time". I gave them the $100 deposit and booked the move. I had to cancel the move due to unforeseen circumstances and they are now telling me the $100 deposit is non-refundable. They hung up on me when I dated ask about it, gave me a couple runaround's that I spoke to someone else when I booked it and now I was talking to someone different that couldn't help me, that I booked a same day move (which I did NOT), etc. I am escalating this further because it is absolutely wrong to charge someone for services that they won't use.
