We had one of our cars on top of a mail box and had to have help removing it so we called the car dealership where we got the car and they sent out a tow company. Unfortunately, when they first came out they never notified us and since this was not at our home we were not there. However, their driver says that my wife wouldn't move her car, so he wasn't able to access the vehicle on the pole. This was impossible, as first, my wife was at work and secondly, her car was not able to be moved, as it was on the pole.
Later in the day they contacted my wife and a time was set for us to meet the towtruck driver. When he arrived we gave him the needed information and he proceeded to jack the car up so he could then remove the pole, which was lodged under the car. While he was doing this his truck was parked in the middle of a narrow road which didn't allow others to pass. He told them, that if he had to move the truck we would be charged extra for every move.
After 30-45 minuted the car was jack up and the pole removed and after the jack was removed the car was free to drive away. We were handed the bill which was for $444 which we said was a lot more than we had expected. The driver told us he would make on the bill that the move was necesssitated by an accident so we could then get reimbursed by our insurance. We mentioned that this didn't seem legal, but he said it happens all of the time. The bill did not mention how long it took to complete the work, but it was broken down as $59 for towing, $345 for winching and 40 for labor.
We called the next day to complain about the amount we were charged and we were told someone would get bakc to us. After three days of not hearing back I called again and after a few calls was able to talk to a manager. He said the charge was so much because they had to come out multiple times. When I explained that we only talked with someone from the company once he didn't seem to care. After arguing for a while I asked about the 15% Senior discount that their ad on Angie's List mentions and was told we needed to ask for that in advance and show proof of age. When I asked about the 15% discount their website mentions for 1st time users he said that is just for towing. I asked what the $59 for towing was for and I was told it was to show up. I then asked why we were charged $345 for winching when they didn't winch the car he didn't have an answer.
So, we were charged $444 for 30-45 minuted of work and they don't feel we were overcharged. I feel their Customer Service is as bad as I have every experienced, and would never use, nor recommend them to anyone.
