I want to take a moment to first thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I am 31 years old, work for a not-for-profit theatre on Long Island, and struggle to get by as I teach children, manage group sales, and work in customer service. The arts are my passion, and working with the children has become a joy and honor.
I make very little money, and am okay with that. I scrapped money together and was able to purchase a nice 2003 Volvo XC90, a dream car of mine on September 11, 2013 from Cash 4 Cars. I was ecstatic pulling the car out of the lot. I was able to put $3,000 down and financed $6,000 with New City Funding. A week later, I noticed the coolant level was low. I filled it, and again a week later it was low. I contacted the dealership I purchased it at, and they filled it and it was fine. The problem arose again just as the warranty had seemed to lapse. I found it a perfect coincidence that the issue arose again, and when I contacted the dealer I was quoted, “You bought a used car, we don’t have a crystal ball, if you have problems, take it to a muffler shop.” I had not mentioned a muffler issue, but of course I had to look at it to see if it was the problem, and there the muffler was, hanging on by some wire. I took the car to a shop and found out the muffler, the rear fuel pump, and the head gasket are all issues. I have not driven the car since February 2014 and it sits in a shop with a bill of $5,000 to replace the whole engine. The dealership has no compassion for what they did and told me good-luck.
I am writing to let you know about the type of business Cash 4 Cars represents. I do not want to see what happened to me, happen to another person. If you have any more questions, feel free to call me at anytime.
