I agree with previous reviewer. Please ask around before chosing this company, in retrospect i wish we sould have. As prior reviewer stated. She was on the head when she commneted how they are sweet as pie at first to get your business, then once they are paid, work is of poor quality. Not as you had stated, skirt around everything and expect YOU to contract contracter for fixes! We have had them out 3 times to fix the the floor as it was peeling and bubbling up. The floor guy said a subflooring should be put down but american dream homes refused to do so and said it wasn't needed.
We now have THOUSANDS of dollars we need to save up to fix the shotty work that was done. I basically got to the point when our "one" year warrenty was over,..., that in itseldf should say something that a company only stands by their shotty work for a year?? any how I told them to stop sending us emails and card and mailing as I want NOTHING to do with them anymore. We learned the hard way that we certainly chose the wrong company, and after talking with other locals found out we were not alone with complaint issues. Once they have their $ from you they don't care one bit.
So today I get an email asking me to "like" them on facebook. My jaw just dropped... Really...
Here was my response back to them with some of our issues that we need to save our $ to fix or take out a loan to fix!...
Really?
I have so much $ I have to save to fix issues with this house you built.
1st and biggest is have to watch where we step in closet or we will put our foot right through the floor, only carpeting there! Just a matter of time before I fall through the floor, great quality work guys!
*linoleum that we complained about 3-4 times and had someone out 3-4 times to fix is still bubbling up and coming up- not attached to the floor, gaps at seams or just peeling up.
*carpeting is now buckling as well
*60 gallon tub but a 40 gal hot water heater, but problem is the room you made for the hot water heater and furnace, you can't get the hot water heater out without having to tear down the entire wall! So what is the point of having a nice big tub when you can't even fill it with warm water as the hot water heater isn't large enough. and to fix it and get a new hot water heater we have to remodel the entire back end of the house as we have to cut the wall open to get the hot water heater out.
** the stain job around the tub, I did complain about during walk through and I was told to call contractor and have them come fix it.. That should have been your job!
*need electrician to fix all your electrical errors. You cut the opening to bathroom wrong, to big for a standard door. You fixed it but you never moved the electrical switch, so as most people reach in to turn light on, there is no light switch there, it is much farther in!. ** You have to walk IN TO the laundry room area to turn the light on?? ** lights are not centered in rooms ** lights are not up to code and anchored onto boards, they are anchored into drywall! **light for closet is almost over an arm lengths reach away from closet opening.
** we asked over and over for a blower to be put in fireplace which never was. why not? must have been too much work for you huh?
**siding was installed in winter and not spaced correctly, too tight so come summertime when weather is warm the siding buckles.
** the shower tub fixture is such a high step up that unless your in your twenty we have to have a stepping stool that guests can use to get into the shower/tub so they don't fall.
**I was up on the roof this fall, and could not believe the mess left up there. I must have pulled off 30-40 nails that were left up there from the roofers.
**You had told us the house was electrical heat but when you were installing the drywall and barely had heat on the monthly cost was over 2/3 of the cost of our mortgage. So we had already sold our propane tank and Now had to get a new furnace installed costing us an additional $5000! You guys do enough homes where you should know if electrical heat is going to be that unreasonable. Almost $700 for barely having heat on. Hell, if we wouldn't have caught that then we would have had a $1500 heating bill and 900 mortgage. what is wrong with that.. Oh that is right. Get the $ and screw the customer.. The American dream home way.
** the furniture we bought from you... I should have looked it over leg was half broken off chair, so while it is in our house, we can't have anyone sit there. Handles were missing from tables and gouges in legs I had to stain so they were not so obvious and I sent and bought replacement handles. Yes that was my fault for assuming that for as much as we paid that we were getting decent furniture. Learned my lesson there.
BOTTOM LINE is we will never "like" American Dream Homes! Then entire flooring situation in this house is a disaster. And to have had you out 3x to fix it and it still isn't fixed and is Horrible. Proves you don't care and it is all bout the $. Even the flooring guy told us that subflooring should have been put down before the laminate but you refused to listen to him and considered yourself the experts and had to come out 3 times maybe it was even 4 to "fix" the problem and here we are with the laminate so bad now we have to have the entire house re-done, and most likely the carpeting now as it is bubbling up.
And I never have seen such poor electrical work done in my life. Having to walk into dark rooms to turn the light on, to have the light switches so far away from the doorways and not taking time to center fixtures and then anchor them to drywall?
We have so much $ we have to invest in getting this house properly fixed I don't know where to start.
the flooring nightmare
fireplace and getting a blower installed as we had requested
the electrical work fixed
Or the nightmare of having to knock down the wall to get a new hot water heater so we can take a bath finally, and then having to remodel the whole back of the house.
The BEST part of our house is the deck we paid, not you, to install and the retaining wall that we installed in the front of the home.
We certainly do our part to pass the word to others about all the problems we have in hopes of saving others the nightmare that we have been through. And funny thing is when we get to talking to others about our issues it amazes me how many people say that they have heard similar stories on poor workmanship and how it seems pretty apparent that all your company cares about is getting its $ and once it has that, then it doesn't care about anything else. So we will continue to spread the word on our experiences and people can certainly make their own deductions.
So no, we will not "like" you on facebook and would prefer if you make sure we are off any of your mailing lists or email list.
