The Management company that I am writing about manages several rental communities in the greater Florida area.
We went to rent a townhome that they manage in the ST. Cloud, FL area called Hickory Glenn Townhoms. We stopped at the office, the lady stated they had a townhome available in perfect timing for us, she sent us down to another apartment complex to fill out paperwork for the townhome. She did not show us the townhome, but reassured us we could see it before signing our lease. We get to the other complex Sawyer Estates in Kissimmee, FL and met with the lady whom processes the rental application. We advised her of what we made, per the rental criteria. I asked her before paying a rental application fee if there was anything that would disqualify us? She stated no, and if there is we can get around it, "Dont worry". I said ok, we filled out the paperwork, and brought back payment for the application and the holding fee for the townhome the next morning as promised. A week goes by, we wait for response, we got no immediate reply back by email, then finally days later were requested to provide more paperwork. I did it asap. The total of two weeks goes by, my husband called up to see what the holdup was as we were told it takes 48-72 hours to process. She stated everything looks great, just waiting on final apprval from corporate. The next day we get a voicemail "bad news, you need to call us back". I called back to be told that I OVERQUALIFY, due to child support judgment, even though court records show I did not receive the amount I am supposed. Also per Florida housing guidlines, you do not include unpaid child support in rental applications if not received. After being advised this, I was dissapointed, and asked if they could provide this in writing..I was told to talk with the manager..I said forget it, I will call corporate. So I called and left a voicemail, no reply. I sent an email and I have a read receipt as they read it and did not reply. This being over a month ago..The townhome we applied for never was posted for rental online. The day we were there originally someone had interest, I asked if they werent taking it and they reassured us they werent..
This place is unprofessional, discriminative and have terrible customer service.
