I went to Ms. Helen Warn of Agile Somalis shortly after my spouse passed away because I was interested in purchasing a Somali Kitten or pair of kittens. I asked for a referral to an east-coast breeder, and Helen Warn referred me to a rather shadey and disreputable breeder, Karen Vance of Cedarwood cattery (search "karen vance" or "cedarwood" on this site to see what I mean when I say disreputable).
After I paid $1150 for a kitten that arrived with ringworm, Ms. Warn and Ms. Vance closed ranks against me and treated me with utter contempt simply because I expressed an interest in breeding. The way Helen Warn treated me was particularly contemptuous and nasty - she actively intervened when Ms. Vance was going to sell me breeding rights. Neither of these ladies explained to me why they were blacklisting me - they just arbitrarily shut me out after I paid $1150 for a sickly kitten.
After that I became acquainted with several other Somali breeders who cared more about educating people about this special breed than they care about money, and they were very warm and inclusive in the way they shared with me the right way to get involved in breeding once you've taken an interest in a particular breed.
Stay away from Helen Warn. Beneath that kind exterior, she can be quite a nasty person.
