I want on line to retrieve a business referral from the website Homeadvisor.com. I entered data that I needed a business to come out to my home and remove water from carpet in my basement which flooded. A company called "Affordable Restoration" was paired with the data that I entered. The owner came out and gave me a fair price. He pulled up the carpet and placed drying equipment around the affected area. I asked if he had sprayed the mold deterrent solution and he said yes he did. I noticed he didn't have any solution with him and asked to see the bottle he used. He couldn't retrieve it. When I challenged him about it, HE ADMITTED THAT HE LIED ABOUT IT. He then left for an hour to get the solution and came back with a " household" bleach solution. He then sprayed the area and left. He said he would be back in a day or so to get the equipment but never returned. I have since had to hire another company to come out and complete the job for an additional $525. Not only did he not rerun to finish, he was working as a mold remediation professional without the training to do so as required by the state of Maryland. Doing so is a criminal offense which I am also persuing. I research the mans background to find he has been charged with theft schemes in the past. Homeadvisor.com told me that they research their referrals backgrounds. Boy, they really missed this one. Please don't let this happen to you. Research any and all business and their employees before you hire.
