I registered and paid for an event, then a month later I was charged $64.95 for an annual membership. I did not sign up for a membership or expect this charge at all. I would not have gone through with the original purchase if I had known about this.
Active.com charged my card $90. The only place they could have gotten the credit card info was from Fitness magazine, which auto-renewed my membership without authorizatin. Active.com charge came through on the same day.
Only used this website: active.com to register for a local 5k run/walk for a mental health awareness event. Imagine my anxiety and increased levels of stress to discover that this company illegally used my credit card number to withdraw an extra $64.95 out of my account after the initial event registration fee!
I did not authorize this deduction from my account. They use this registration process to bait the registrar in to provide the information and then 30 days later withdraw funds without approval!
After finding out I got scammed by Active.com, I called their customer service line and asked for my Active Advantage membership to be cancelled and fees refunded.
The CS Rep told me "It's all taken care of". But actually not! Active.com CS Rep lied to me! My Active advantage account was not cancelled and my scammed money was not returned! I found about this accidentally 2.5 months after I requested the cancellation.
If you do anything with Active.com monitor your emails and financial accounts!!! I really thought Active.com was above these sorts of porn site scam trucks, but I guess not. Very disappointing!
