I hailed a taxi in Scottsdale, Arizona at about 1 a.m. in the Entertainment District. I got into Yosief Mebrahtu's taxi. He barely spoke to us and barely spoke English. I told him my address three times, which recieved no response. I finally followed-up with my cross streets. He repeated them to me and I confident he would head to our destination about 1.9 miles away. He then started heading the complete opposite way from my destination. I confronted him and he told me I gave him the wrong cross-streets. All my other passengers in the car told him he was mistaken and he even repeated the cross streets back to me. He then refused to discount the now close to $30 cab ride, which resulted in going the opposite way and then having to go back, plus the fare it would have been. The cab ride usually costs me no more than $6. I asked to call the cops, he then agreed to discount it $3. I took pictures of all the information in the car. However, when I went to call the company he worked for, it directed to his personal cell phone answering machine. I wish I knew how to report him to the taxi regulating agency in Phoenix so I could prevent this from happening to anyone else. Do not use a independent taxi driver. I strongly suggest using Uber or Lyft. At least if you have a dispute, you can contact someone and get at least a partial refund. Worst experience ever.
